Indian women must be anxious to know about such countries. The experience in our home country is not that sweet to remember for many Indian women. Getting out of the house after sunset must be unthinkable in many parts of our country. According to the report of IDP India, New Zealand is ranked as the safest country for women in the world. The same country also ranks No.2 in Global Peace Index 2023 as per various studies and reports. Adequate laws are there to criminalise domestic violence and sexual assault ensuring stringent punishment. The country also provides various support services for the victims.

New Zealand also has a strong focus on education and awareness in gender based violence. They also ensure equal opportunity and status for women in every social aspects.

Singapore, Slovenia, United Arab Emirates, Iceland, Oman, Quatar, Armenia, Taiwan are the other top countries for safety of women in the world. As per the report of Women, Peace And Safety Index 2021, India ranks 148 among 170 countries in the world in safety of women. What a pitiful situation! Surprisingly, in our own ancient great books, it is found:
"Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra devatah." (Where women are honoured, there deities are pleased)

When our books say something great, why our people do something nasty? The only answer to this is our politics that promote corruption in our country. Unless the people, especially the women take strong steps to overcome this situation, life of women will continue to be dangerous. The steps are not that tough. Step one; find an end to corruption with stringent punishment. Step two, punishment for any rape under any circumstances should be gallows. Any other form of sexual assault should be life imprisonment. Step three, intentional homicide culprits should also be send to the gallows. Irrespective of age, circumstances etc sexual assault should be punished with life imprisonment. Above all, it would be preferable to mould a better generation for tomorrow. Homicides, assault of women, corruption etc can be included in the school syllabus from Class 4 to Class 12. This will help to create a cleaner generation for tomorrow.

Finland is a very safe country for women to travel alone during night. Lemmen joki National Park in Finland is the largest wooded park in Europe. Women come to this forest like park any time during night. They are always safe there. Is there a place like that in India?

I would like to appeal to the well placed women in politics, media, civil services, social services etc etc to come to forefront and unite the women as a bargaining power. They may approach the legislature, the executive and the judiciary for framing the laws as suggested above. Once corruption is eliminated from country through stringent punishment we will have won the battle 90%. Rest would be easily accessible.
