DO POLITICIANS NEED EDUCATION ?

Image
(Jawaharlal Nehru University New Mehrauli road, New Delhi. Image courtesy, Times of India) Articles 14,15,16,17 & 18 of the Constitution of India prescribe equality to all and this equality make any Indian citizen, even if one is illiterate, to become a Minister of any department and lead the people. As per this eligibility provision, an illiterate can become a minister of education and one who has no knowledge of law can become a law minister and advise the lawyers and judges.  The prime reason for this is that 140 crores Indians do not respond to anything that happens around them and they have no opinion about anything at all. They receive anything and accept with no resistance. Again there is a cause for it and that is lack of education. It may be surprised to find that seven decades after independence only about five percent of our population are graduates and about one third of the population are below primary level of education (the exact figures may be checke...

ASIAN GAMES 2023; HOW IS INDIA'S PERFORMANCE?

Image
Image courtesy - Hindustan Times  The final medal tally of the Asian Games 2023 at Hangzhou, China. (Gold, Silver, Bronze & Total) China 201 - 111 - 71 : 383 Japan   52 -   67- 69 : 188 S Korea 42 -  59- 89 : 190 India      28 -  38 - 41 :  107 Uzb-stn 22 -  18 - 31 :   71 We Indians are proud of our record breaking performance in the Asian Games. Is this an appreciable performance? I may prefer to say it a deplorable attainment. China has bagged almost four times of medals received by us. In gold alone, when we got 28 they could get 201. Both countries have more or less same population to pick from. Chinese are not born athletes or talented in sports by birth . They train their people well in time and then send to the games venue. Most of our people have no set goals. Just send for the games; that's all. In the athletic disciplines, how many of our athletes have reached the bronze medal level of the p...

WHAT MADE KERALA TO ADOPT COMMUNIST PARTY

Image
(A still from  KPAC drama   "Ningalenne Communist Aakki". Image courtesy, The New Indian Express) Karl Marx was born in Trier, Germany on 5 May 1818. His books Das Kapital and Communist Manifesto laid the foundation for Communism in the world. The world's first constitutionally formed Communist state was in Russia in 1917. With the amalgamation of other  territories of the empire the former Soviet Union was formed in 1922. Altogether Communists could rule 42 countries in the world. Only Cuba, Laos and Vietnam are presently ruled by the Communists. Though North Korea is said to be a Communist country, what is prevailing there is Dictatorship. Political parties have no role to play there. Similarly China is also treated as a Communist country by some. Though they call it People's Republic of China, since people have no role to play there, it is a sheer Monarchy type government in China. Since over 70% of their GDP belongs to private sector and s...

EDUCATION IN INDIA

Image
Economic development of a country and prosperity of the population is solely depends upon the level of education of the people of the country.  After the first five year plan, the 10th five year plan (2002-2007) mainly focused on education. Since then overall pattern of educational development has been on set route. No one has seemed to have reviewed the progress of education in our country. Now we cannot boast about our educational standards. According to the survey report published by www.bestdiplomats.org the following countries are on top of the world in education standard in 2024. (The figure shown in the bracket is the territorial educational standard) South Korea (97.9%) Canada (66.36%) Japan (64%) Luxembourg (63.12%) UK (57.47%) In literacy rate the above countries are around 99%. As per Legatum Prosperity Index, India ranks 99 in 145 countries in the education sector. Projections for 2024 on our literacy rate is suggested 80%. As per the available information t...

"LOKA SAMASTHA 'DUHKHINAH' BHAVANTU"

Image
While many believe that this mantra; "Lokah Ssmastah Sukhino Bhavantu" is from Rigveda it seems to be found from a stone inscription of the Sangama Dynasty (1336 AD - 1485 AD). This mantra appears to be the master piece of every Indian's outlook towards the rest of the world. Of course there may be some sections of people wish from their hearts this mantra, many modern Indians do not like to chant this for the comfort of the world, especially the people of Kerala. Malayalees must be the sole community in the world who find joy from the fall of his neighbour. There are many such negative things make these Super Malayalees happy. These extra ordinary humans love only themselves and their family members. Other than those if anyone is found progressing economically or earn some name and fame it would be difficult for these Malayalees to tolerate it. If a Malayali prays for his well being he will certainly find time to pray for the collapse of his neighbour too. In...

WE INDIANS 'KNOW' ALL ABOUT GOD

Image
Generally all humans across the world boast that they know all about God. Irrespective of the religious faith man of all religions argue that their God is the original or the right One. Though no one knows about one's own body they say they know all about the Creator of all human and all other life forms and nonliving things and as many number of the whole unknown universe. Human brain is said to have the maximum storage capacity of about 300 years of video cassette recordings. If we say we know the God well we are just limiting the God within our brain capacity. Religiously most apt definition of God is Thathwamasi. Meaning of this is "You are that" or "That is you."' This term originated from Chandogya Upanishad. It appears in a dialogue between Uddalaka and his son Svetaketu. This term has however scientific relevance it seems. As per Big Bang theory the universe with all those contains came into existence from the explosion of a tiny particle...

STRANGE RECORDS IN WORLD SPORTS

Image
(1881 Wimbledon Champion William Renshaw) Hers are some strange scores in world sports. Football In the FIFA World Cup 2002 qualifying match in International Sports Stadium, Australia on 11 April 2001 Australia defeated American Samoa 31-0 remains a record. Hockey In a Junior Asia Cup Hockey played in Karachi in 1987 Pakistan scored 55 - 0 against Macau is a record score. Basketball The highest score in a NBA basketball game played on 13 December 1983 by Detroit Pistons against Denver Nuggets 186 - 184 remain in the history of basketball. Volleyball In the Asian Junior Women's Volleyball Championship in 2004 Chinese Taipei defeated Maldives 25 - 1 remains a record. The second and third sets too were  25 - 4 and 25 - 7. Tennis In 1881 Wimbledon tennis final William Renshaw defeated John Hartley by 6 - 0, 6 - 1, 6 - 1 in 36 minutes may be a record in tennis. Cricket Australia dismissed England in both innings at 53 and 62 at Lords in 1888. K V George

CAN WE REFINE THE DEMOCRACY?

Image
In Indian democracy, the people are nothing but mere voting machines. People have no role to play other than casting the vote once in every five years. What is prevailing in India is something like political monarchy. The political parties in power become unchallengeable. And that must be the reason for corruption become rampant here. Indian money is reported to have pumped out by the corrupt to other countries. All said and done, people have lost confidence in our political parties. However people still have trust in judiciary. It is suggested, therefore, that the judiciary may involve themselves to refine the democracy. If we take a close look at the legislative and executive functioning in different states, we can find shoddy and below average behaviour by the 'democratically' elected members. Even violent activities including destruction could be witnessed in the legislative assembly. What is suggested here is that, the most trusted part of the Indian Democracy,...

WHAT FOR THIS CRUELTY?

Image
This photo does not confirm the reported attack with the nailed lathis  Media have extensively reported about the devil's cruelty shown on our young children who protested in large numbers on their educational matters. It was specifically highlighted that some extremely cruel politicians attacked the children with nailed lathis. They   attacked the children probably for dispersing them from there. They hit them on their heads with nailed lathis, it was reported. Since this brutal act is not done by the uniformed police officials, this cannot be expected to have committed as per the orders of the concerned government departments. Over and above everything it cannot be even imagined that such action is taken by a  government that represent 1.5 billion people. It is now the exclusive duty of the opposition political parties to enquire properly to find the one who ordered this inhumane and barbaric act against our own children, if it is a fact. School teachers and religious leaders role to prevent narcotics from the society can have unbelievable results. Others who are responsible ...

WHAT IS THE REAL CAUSE BEHIND THE US - IRAN DISPUTE?

Image
If we try to find a single reason for the dispute, it can be straight away said that the Nuclear capabilities of Iran is the one that irritated US so much. At present Iran is not believed to have possessing any nuclear weapon. Since early 2000 Iran's Uranium enrichment capabilities have raised concern over many countries including US. According to the past intelligence assessment, Tehran has the potential capabilities to produce nuclear weapons about a dozen in numbers.soon, but they have withdrawn from the efforts. However the US and some other countries believe that they can make the nuclear weapons in a short span of time. Iran's ballistic missiles and delivery capabilities also irritate many. The conflict between the two countries is a combination of longstanding historical grievances, regional ambitions and dispute over military strategy. The US also aimed at Iran's proxy militants like Hezbollah and Hamas. Further to these tension raised many times at the ...

CHINESE GAME IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH

Image
Arunachal Pradesh meaning 'the Land of Rising Sun' is for long recognised as the territory of India. During the British regime this area was known as North East Frontier Agency until it was part of Assam and then it has become Union Territory of India in 1972. It became an Indian state in 1987. This region was recognised as the Indian subcontinent receiving mention in the ancient Hindu literature like the Kalika - Purana and the epic poems like the Mahabharata and Ramayana. This Indian state has an area of 83,743 sq.km and a population of (2011) 1,382,611. Arunachal Pradesh is a home for many distinct ethenic group. Most of these groups are either related with the people of Tibet or West Myanmar. Two third of the population compromise of Scheduled Tribes. China claims Arunachal Pradesh primarily because of its historical and ancient relation with Tibet. Tawang an adjoining district of Arunachal Pradesh has always held a unique place in the culture of Tibet. It is be...

INDIA MUST RECAST SCHOOL SYLLABUS

Image
If India wishes to have an all-round improvement of the coming generations, our first priority should be to recast the school syllabus. Whether it is state sponsored schools or CBSE or any other mode of management the syllabus from Pre KG to Class 12 should be common for the whole country. The following subjects should be included in all classes from Class 4 to 12 according to the capabilities of students of each class. However in the case of state syllabus the concerned states may be allowed to add  inevitable subjects if any without leaving any of the following. However when NCERT prepares the syllabus they may draft the lessons at 100% extra; for instances if 50 lessons are compulsorily taught they may prepare 100 lessons or more. Let each state and other management bodies may pick the required fifty from NCERT's syllabus list. 1. What to do and what not during pregnancy. Also what to eat and what not during pregnancy. This should be prepared in such a way that we ma...

WHAT MAY BE THE FUTURE OF KERALA!

Image
The  State of Kerala has reached the rock bottom stage in the economic front. There is nothing left to expect for the development of the state. Despite it is bestowed with natural beauty and many abnormal views and experience the successive governments could not show case the so called God's Own Country in front of the world. Even the scattered number of tourists came here were discouraged by our people. Neither the government nor the people know how to market the gifted state across the world and earn huge money. Can we believe that USA have annual income of $1.9 trillion from Travel and Tourism sector. We Malayalis are contented with the few chips we get from our so called tourism. We have one of the most intelligent youth of the world. Unfortunately we cannot provide them suitable avenues to come up in life. They are forced to escape to other countries for a living. Our name sake governments are of no use to these educated youth. As per available information Kerala h...

PCI/PPP - ANNUAL BUDGET OF CENTRAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS

Image
(The first Indian Budget was presented by Mr James Wilson on February 18, 1869. He was the  then Finance Member of India Council that advised the Viceroy) The ultimate aim of democracy or government is  comfort of the people. The indicator of that comfort or economic development of the people is the annual budget. Budget is used as the criteria to measure the economic growth of a country, is evaluated and presented  annually to the people. According to the assessment of the year 2020,  the first three positions among the countries in the size of the budget is held by  USA, China and India.  As per the web source analysis the best 10 countries in PPP are, Germany, USA, Brazil, China, Japan, Australia, Canada, India, Indonesia and Russia.  The per capita income  is the average earning per country men every year. PCI is calculated by dividing the annual GDP of a country by it's population. When PPP indicates the purchasing power of the pe...

POLITICAL PARTIES IN INDIA MAY GO FOR SELF ASSESSMENT

Image
While over sixty countries in the world are contented with a two party political system, we Indians have hundreds of parties, almost all with groups and sub-groups. Fundamentally political parties are created as a platform for the service of the people.  Atleast once in a year each party may find time to evaluate their performance during the past one year. They may make an abstract of what have been received from the people and what they have given to the people.  They may present this to the people every year. Since this is their own assessment, it is for them to decide whether they should continue with the service of the people or not. There are many parties proved to be utter failures in every field in serving the people. Still they try to lure the people with many impossibles. And the helpless people are unable to come out in the open and say no to these parties. At least a good number of political parties in India try to bring their earnings from the people th...

DIFFERENCE IN APPROACH TO CRIME

Image
We  Indians proudly announce that India is the largest democracy in the world. In practice, in day to day life can we find any democracy here? Even in the case of crimes we give preference, consideration, exemption etc according to the status of the accused. When a common man commit a crime, quickly it goes to the law and order machinery and in no time get referred to the judiciary. If a much serious crime is committed by a politician it gets discussed in the media day in and day out. Then goes to the discussion of the concerned political parties. And in most cases neither it reaches the police nor the judiciary. One fine morning all media together withdraw from the scene. Gradually it get erased from the minds of all people. Though there are wide differences in ideology, opinion, approach etc from party to party, in the case of crime these differences are generally getting narrowed down. Long live democracy! K V George

CYBER CRIMES IN INDIA

Image
Mobile  Phone and internet were introduced in India on the same day, August 15, 1995. Since then the growth was enviably fast. In May 2012 there were 927.37 million mobile users in India. In 2015 India had the second largest telecom network in the world. Communication technology has in fact deeply involved in every aspect of human life today. Mobile Phone has entered into email contacts the world over with wide social networking. Banking transactions, health check up, school and college education, office work etc have confined to internet through mobile phone. While we happily looked at the outstanding performance of this sector, we failed to take adequate security measures in this field. According to NCRB reports there are considerable increase of cyber crimes in India. When it was 27,248 cyber crimes in 2018, it came to 44,546 in 2019, 50,035 in 2020 and it became  28.15 lakhs in 2025. Most of these cases are related banking fraud and bullying of women and childr...

LITERACY RATE IN INDIA

Image
(Image courtesy -                  Dreamstime.  com) Literacy rate of India in 2022 is said to be 77.7% whereas it is 96.2% in Kerala. We may try to find the truth behind these claims. As per the census records of 2011 graduates in India is a mere 8.15% (98.6 million) Countries with highest literacy in the world are Lithuania (99.82), Tajikistan (99.80) and Azerbaijan (99.79) Though the rate of literacy looks to be slightly above the rate of literacy in Kerala, the faculties between them are considerably different. While our standard of literacy is just reading and writing of one's name, theirs are far superior. We must immediately come out of the present idiotic concept of literacy rating and should recast the literacy standard. Currently the literacy standard in India is that of the LKG. Every two years we must upgrade it, i.e. after two years we must fix it to UKG and then to class 1, 2, ...

BILLIONAIRES WHO LOST ALL

Image
(Vijay Mallya) Patricia Kluge John Kluge was once the richest in the world. His personal wealth in 1990 was $5 billion. At the time of divorce John's wife Patricia Kluge was left with $1 million in alumni and she also received the lavish estate in the Virginia country side. She developed the estate into a winery and vineyard. She then took a loan of $65 million to start a real estate business. She built over a dozen luxury villas. Patricia was forced to default on her loans after the banking and housing crisis in 2008. That led to the sale of Virginia estate and her other valuable possessions. She came to the rock bottom level. The Virginia estate, winery and vineyard of Patricia Kluge was purchased by Donald Trump. Vijay Mallya Vijay Mallya took over the business from his father at the age of 28. He turned this into a multi-billion dollar business firm. He himself became the "King of Good Times." H...

WHAT FOR INDIA TAKE PART IN OLYMPICS?

Image
2024 Paris Olympic competition Venue.s From the last Olympic held in Paris from July 26, 2024 to August 11, 2024. India's performance was below par. What we secured was one silver and five bronze. Countries which are below ten percent of our population and youth resources could bag more medals than us.We could not compete with even small countries in the sports arena. Unfortunately neither our successive governments nor the large number of sports bodies our country is managing with could not produce the desired results.  Our performance in the past three Olympics are given below. (P - participants, G - gold, S - silver, B - bronze, T - total and R - rank) 2012 (London) Countries 204 P 83, G 0, S 2, B 4, T 6, R 55 2016 (Rio de Janeiro) C 207 P 117, G 0, S 1, B 1, T 2, R 67 2020 (Tokyo) C 206 P 124, G 1, S 2, B 4, T 7, G 48 2024 Paris G 0, S 1, B 5 What a shaneful performance by a large country wth over a population of 140 crores. EXPORT EARNINGS TOO A CAUSE FOR INFLATION; CAN WE TAKE IT AS FACT?

Image
Many countries in the world including India, count balance of trade in USD. The normal procedure is that when export revenue of all private agencies received in USD are credited in government account and in turn the payment to the concerned exporters are made in the relevant currencies of the countries. The foreign exchange thus goes to the government do not have any considerable impact on the internal economy but when equal value of local currency is circulated which causes inflation. Though it doesn't stand with the demand and supply theory, excess circulation of money brings down the value of the local currency. This in turn becomes like too much money run after too less number of goods. That causes price rise or inflation. This is the same thing happens in export revenue too. K V George

CAN WE SWEEP OUT NARCOTICS FROM INDIA?

Image
Youth of India is now vulnerable to narcotics, both in using as well as trading. It is spreading fast in schools and colleges. All concerned departments of the Central and State governments must sit together with various sections of the society including educationalists, sociologists, religious leaders etc to find ways and means to ward off this evil from the whole country. We must systematically frame the methods to find the last end of the thread. Once one end of it is in hand, the other end is certainly reachable, howsoever it may be delayed. We have such intelligent people available in all departments. One of the most important thing to take care is that if any political party is involved in this distructive method of money making such parties should be straight away banned for ever. Similarly any government officials are found to have involvement in this trade should be dismissed forthwith. All those connected with flight cargo, passenger flights and all those in and a...

RELIGION - A SHORTCUT TO POLITICS

Image
Religion is a belief and an organised system of worship of the unseen Super Power of the universe. As a shortcut to attain power to rule the country this unseen Super Power has been brought among the voters. By electing a party the voters may get all the blessings of a particular god. The poor people as well as the tricky politician enjoy the new political formula. Very soon the disaster from the new theory will be exposed and the impacts may spread fast. Politics and religion are extremely contradictory subjects. While one encourages wrong doings secretly, the other is strictly against it. In India we try to mix these together to attract the largest population. However our political leaders found out the short cut route to pick 79.5 percent Hindus as one religion and one group to support them for ever. Unfortunately our politicians looked at this one group as one group only. They never tried to look below this one group to find 3,000 castes, 25,000 sub castes and 16.66 cro...

BEST POLICE FORCE IN THE WORLD

Image
Most of the countries in the world are infected with corruption and in many cases the ultimate sufferers are the poor and the innocent people. Generally the first victim to recoup the loss through some other means from the common man. However those who have resources for alternative means get escaped and finally the helpless become the prey. When the weaker and the helpless become targets by the rich and the powerful one, they always look for help from the police. Unfortunately, the rulers of many countries in the world use the police force for their preferences. Many reputed agencies around the world have conducted surveys to find the best police in the world. The top ten picked from almost all surveys remains the same with marginal difference in rankings. The list presented below is from trendrr.net by Abayomi Jegede on July 2, 2021. 01. Japan, National Police Agency 02. New York, New York Police Department 03. Italian State Police 04. New Zealand Police 05. France Nation...
