WHAT FOR INDIA TAKE PART IN OLYMPICS?
From the last Olympic held in Paris from July 26, 2024 to August 11, 2024. India's performance was below par. What we secured was one silver and five bronze. Countries which are below ten percent of our population and youth resources could bag more medals than us.We could not compete with even small countries in the sports arena. Unfortunately neither our successive governments nor the large number of sports bodies our country is managing with could not produce the desired results. Our performance in the past three Olympics are given below.
(P - participants, G - gold, S - silver, B - bronze,
T - total and R - rank)
2012 (London) Countries 204
P 83, G 0, S 2, B 4, T 6, R 55
2016 (Rio de Janeiro) C 207
P 117, G 0, S 1, B 1, T 2, R 67
2020 (Tokyo) C 206
P 124, G 1, S 2, B 4, T 7, G 48
2024 Paris G 0, S 1, B 5
What a shaneful performance by a large country wth over a population of 140 crores.

The top six medal winners shown above are less populated than India who have a population of over142 cr. We have more people to compete in Olympic games than all other countries, but our performance in the entire Olympic history is quite pathetic. Who is responsible for this situation? Undoubtedly it is the successive governments that ruled our country. We have all the facilities to prepare our youth to take part once in four years in every Olympics and have the capability to secure the top position among all participant countries. Without knowing ourselves we always send a large contingent to take part in the competition and we shamelessly return near empty handed . We must find an end to this nasty participation.
India is the largest populated country in the world. The median age of Indians which is 28.2 years make one of the most youthful country in the world. We are the fifth largest economy in the world. We are also the fourth largest power in military strength. Our spacecraft has landed in the moon. Our space vehicle is in the orbit of Mars. Indian spacecraft Aditya -L1 is in the solar system watching the Sun.
In many areas we are proud to tell the world that we are on top of the world. However, when it comes to sports we admit that we are on the bottom of the world.
