CORRUPTION IN JUDICIARY
According to media reports huge amount of money has been detected from the house of a judge of the Delhi Highcourt. This money was detected by the fire force officials during a fire in this house of the judge. This may be a baffling information for many people. However, for some people this report may not baffle them because they know about the huge corruption being taken place in almost every government department in our country. There are many reports initiated by the strong media as well some reports made available by the government through the social media. As far as the judiciary is concerned, it is a trusted system of our country for every Indian. When a criminal is penetrated into this honest institution at least the innocent people of the country get horrified. Surprisingly, two judges of the Apex Court revealed this in their times. One of them even said, as reported by the media, that about 20% of our judges have the tendency of monetory corruption.
Corruption is widespread in our country. Why about 25% of our people are below poverty line? It is just because of the corruption that is widely accepted by our people. The simple reason for these much of Corruption is lack of effective laws. We are not short of law, but every law has enough ways to escape. Many 'ifs and buts, subject to ' etc provided in the law which have been misused by the experts nominated by the culprits. In corruption cases in India many are escaped from punishment.
Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Luxembourg, Finland etc are said to be corruption free countries in the world. According to Corruption Perception Index by Transparency International 2024 a total of 180 countries are surveyed. Those scored from 0 to 100 are highly corrupt countries. The score of India in this index 38.
If we want to eliminate corruption from this country a new simple law should be formulated with stringentl punishments. Anyone found involved in corruption prima facie should be suspended forth with and should not be allowed to enter the concerned office until the case is withdrawn. The money lost should be recovered in some form with a suitable penalty. Most important is that a clean enquiry should be ensured by the government.
Most of the problems we face today is because of this widespread corruption. Most of our political parties are responsible for this in one way or the other. If the Central Government can take the following decision huge amount of black money can be brought out. Any investment made in the following sectors within the next twelve months need not declare the source of income. They will have to pay the basic income tax only and no penalty will be imposed. The sectors should be infrastructure development, educational institutions, hospitals and other health development institutions. After the prescribed period any black money found should be attached and heavy penalty should be imposed alongwith all normal procedures. If we want to eliminate poverty from our country, provide employment to all youth and to make our country a literate one we must first eradicate corruption from our country.
