ANTI HUMAN CAST SYSTEM IN INDIA

    Jagannath temple in Puri.

As per the Census report of 2011, 966.3 million people are identified as Hindus in India. This represents 79.8% of the population of the country. The main casts are further divided into about 3,000 casts and 25,000 subcasts. Traditionally Brahmins are accorded the highest ritual status of the four social classes. Brahmins are generally vested with priesthood, performing rites of passage rituals, solemnising wedding etc.

According to the reports of 2007 Brahmins hold 5% of the Indian population. Brahmins themselves are of 7 categories. As per the Mandal Commission report of 1980 the population of Shudras in India was 52% of the total population. This is excluding the population of the high cast Shudras. 25% of our population belongs to Dalits (SCs  and STs). These reserved casts and tribes are not fully eligible to enter into manyt of the Hindu temples in India. Liberty and equality as provided in the Constitution are beyond the reach of these scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. Even the God is restricted to them by the largest democracy in the world. We Indians find pleasure in accusing others but never try to correct ourselves.
