STRANGE MARRIAGE CUSTOMS

France

This is on the wedding night in France. Friends and relatives assemble in the house of the newly weds and start banging on pots and pans. It is not over. After that the couple has to serve them drinks and snacks. This old tradition in France is called Charivari.

Mauritania

When getting ready for marriage the brides should become more and more chubby. This is believed to be bringing good luck to the groom's family in Mauritania.(After marriage most of the wives have health problems due to excess weight. The custom is still being continued.)

Sweden

If the groom leave the room during wedding ceremony all the men come and kiss the bride. If the bride leave the room to the bathroom or anywhere all the women there will come and kiss the groom. It is a recognised custom in Sweden.

In this part of the world, soon after the wedding, all relatives lie down on the ground facedown  and the couple walk on them as if on human carpet.

India

If the women are born as Manliks (When Mars and Saturn are both under the 7th house in astrology) are cursed and it is believed,  therefore, their husbands to pass away at a young age (Deevita Arya). To overcome this they marry a tree prior to the actual marriage.

England

Ribbons are placed in between layers of the wedding cake. Before the couple cuts the cake, all single women gathered around the cake and pull the ribbons. The one who pulls the ribbon with a ring charm is said to be the next one to get married.
