STRANGE CUSTOMS RELATED TO MARRIAGE ACROSS THE WORLD

There are unbelievably strange customs are found among different communities across the world in connection with marriages. We will find some of them here.

Scotland

In Scottish marriages, bride alone or with groom, are ambushed by friends and throw food and other rubbish things all over them. Rotten eggs and fish waste are also generally used for throwing. This tradition is called "blackening the bride."

South Korea

In order to make the groom ready for the first night, the South Koreans beat the feet of the groom with dead fish and bamboo sticks 

China

The bride's are asked to cry for an hour every day for a month before the marriage. Other female relatives of the family may also join them for crying. This is symbolic for a good marriage life for Tujia people of China.

Indonesia

The Indonesian island, Borneo is known for its weird marriage tradition. The Tidong community here, the bride and the groom are confined to a house or a room where they are not allowed to shit and pee for 3 days and 3 nights. Imagine the agony and later the relief!

Sudan

Some tribes in Sudan believe that  a marriage can only prosper if the bride can give birth to a minimum of two children. If she fails to do so, she can be divorced.

Africa

The Maasai tribes of Kenya and Tanzania have strange custom when the daughter departs her house after the marriage. The father spits on her daughter's face for good luck when taking leave.
