COVID 19 - DOWNWARD TREND IN ITALY

Italy
The whole world was baffled over the high rise of Covid 19 in Italy. 2,34,998 cases and 33,899 deaths are reported from Italy as on date. The first case of coronavirus was reported on 31 January 2020. The pandemic is suspected to have brought in there by the Chinese immigrants. While the Italian population stands at 6,04,67,085, the total number of Chinese immigrants are 3,20,794. These figures excluded those secured Italian nationality and those born there.

From the first reported case on 31 January, it shot upto 71 on 23 February and 6557 on 21 March. As a result of all possible measures taken by the Italian government the figures came down to 2357 on 25 April, 1402 on 12 May and 270 on 6 June.

On 26 February the total Covid 19 death reported was 1. This went upto 349 on 16 March, 601 on 23 March and 919 the highest on 27 March. The mortality figure came down to 837 on 31 March, 525 on 16 April, 382 on 28 April, 474 on 2 May, 274 on 7 May, 145 on 17 May, 117 on 27 May, 60 on 1 June and 53 on 7 June.

What the Italians have done are nothing special. They have maintained lock down for quite long. Other preparatory steps like increasing the number of beds, ICUs and Ventilators in hospitals were also taken.
While Italy now stands 7th on the ladder we Indians are on 6th.

We should invariably concentrate on Identification and Isolation. This is the most effective method to get rid off the deadly virus. Other preventive measures like using mask, sanitization and personal distancing can strictly continue.
