YES, WE CAN ERADICATE COVID 19 FROM INDIA IN FIVE WEEKS

Can we eradicate Covid 19 from India? Yes, we can, that too in a set target of five weeks. What we should do?

It will be a massive operation. Before jumping into it we must ensure our resources. If ensured, think twice whether we can pool those with utmost discipline. If we can, the first step to be taken is seperate politics from Covid 19. OK! We are now ready to fight with the virus. Let us then deploy the soldiers fully armed at all vulnerable places.

Step 1

Divide the States and UT into 3 categories. 1) High infection 2) Medium infection 3) Low infection.

Step 2

In category 1 states, each district may be brought under a medical team comprising of adequate number of doctors and other health personnel with all required equipments, kits etc. This team should be headed by a senior doctor nominated by ICMR. This doctor should be fully empowered to take appropriate actions as and when needed. The whole team should ensure that the entire people of the district are tested and sent to hospitals or the places of quarantine depending upon the result of the test. All confirmed negative cases may be allowed to go back home (nowhere else). No home quarantine should be allowed. The whole testing should be completed in one week.

Step 3

States of medium infection should be divided into zones comprising of few number of districts depending upon the density of cases. Any region of the zone which had never reported about any Covid 19 cases may be looked into as the situation demands.

Step 4

States with low infection may be managed by one team. They may take decision as in step 3.

Step 5

The team on completion of the tests may follow up with all cases referred to hospitals or quarantine and ensure that those infected are fully cured and those sent to quarantine are fit to return home.

After the first week of testing and the subsequent four weeks of hospitalization and quarantine stay, can we not ensure that the Covid is shunted out? However to make it doubly sure after the fifth week, a distance supervision can be made for the subsequent four weeks. During this whole period interstate transport including bus, train and flights to be suspended. No international flights should be allowed. However, if these suspension cannot be allowed, arrangements to be made for testing, quarantine/hospitalization as the case may be, for all passengers.The Central and State Governments may find in advance that they can afford the testing, doctors and medical personnel, hospitals with adequate beds and other equipments and sufficient places for quarantine. There is no short cut to get away from coronavirus. Each virus has to be destroyed.
