COVID 19 - DOWNWARD TREND IN CHINA

We may have a close look of some countries where Covid have spread widely and took the lives of huge number of people. Until now coronavirus have infected about 72,00,364 people killing 4,08,744 in 215 countries across the world. While in some countries the figures are going upwards in a few other the trend is downwards. We will see China now.

Covid 19 first appeared in Wuhan, China in early December 2019.  Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province of Central China with a population over 11 million. Out of 83,040 cases and 4,634 deaths reported in China, 68,135 cases and 4512 deaths are from Hubei province alone. It shows that they could contain the pandemic most effectively. On 12th of March the total cases reported in China was 80,813. On 6th of June the figure went up to only 83,030. The total number of deaths as on January 22 was 17. It shot up to 3,270 on March 22,  4,632 on April 22, 4634 on May 22 and remain at 4634 on June 6. What they did was not anything magical. The city of Wuhan was fully locked down. No one were allowed to go out or come into Wuhan and the whole Hubei province. The Chinese could identify the patients and could isolate them.

There is something gone haywire in our preventive measures. When the pandemic was crawling upwards we came up with good number of positive decisions to contain it. Now, when things are worsened we have withdrawn all those things. The roads and markets are fully opened. Temples and Churches are opened for assembly of people.

It is stressed once again that Identification and Isolation is the only method to prevent the pandemic. Let the government and the people jointly decide how to implement it.
