AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF CHINA

Dear People of China,
Namaste! Ni hao!
Beloved neighbours! We, the people of India, have unstained love and regards for the people of China. We each other are proud of our age old culture and history. We Indians know much about your Buddhist monk Xuanzang who visited India as traveller during the 7th century. He too had good words for us. It is, therefore, a historical relationship. Friends, unfortunately your government is not so. They maintain an unwanted and unreasoned enmity with us.

You had a war with us in 1962. Since then, making wrong claims about our own land within our boarders, your army is fighting with us. Of late, penetrating deep into our land, your people have killed our soldiers. During this fight we have lost the lives of twenty of our beloved soldiers. You too have lost more numbers. What for? Have we done any wrong with you ever? To the best of our knowledge, not. In order to hide your internal issues and your rift with some other countries, why do you fight with us? What is that you gain by killing people on both sides?

Do you know that if your government is taking a decision to have an open war with us we both will not be there to see the result. The name China will be erased from the globe. We too may not be different. We Indians are peace loving people. We want peace in the whole world. We want you too shold have peace and economic growth. That is why we are importing goods worth huge value from you. It was over US$ 90,000 million last year. Our people are visiting your country quite extensively. Your people are also coming here.

Hope you know that you are one of the most suppressed people in the world. You are under privileged and under paid too. You are deprived of the modern world. You cannot protest against anything. You cannot even express on matters pertaining to you. You are not governed by communism but by sheer authoritarianism. Your government is not trustworthy for the neighborhood. They are most unreliable and with a criminal mind. You have boarder disputes with all your neighbours. Do you think that all your neighbours are wrong and your government alone is right? If your government cannot maintain friendship with the most peace-loving people of the world, we Indians, they cannot have any rapport with anyone. That is the reason for almost the whole world hate your government. When you fail to love the world, the world too cannot love you.

Dear friends, let us remain as friends. Let us not fight with each other. Let us help each other. We are always there to help you.
