This St Paul's  Basilica was one of the largest building of the Renaissance era. The construction of the new Basilica was commenced by Pope Julius II in 1506 and was completed by Pope Paul V in 1626. This new Basilica replaced the old one built in the fourth century by Constantine the Great. The architects of the Church includes the great Michelangelo. The dimensions of the church is: length 490 ft, width 260 ft, height 240 ft, area 5.7 acres and the seating capacity is 60,000.
The Dura Europos Church in Syria built in 233 - 256 is the oldest surviving church in the world.
