PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION 2024 - WEST BENGAL





The current estimated population of West Bengal is 10.42 crores. The state has an area of 88,752 km². The state has a total of 42 seats for the Lok Sabha election. GDP of the state for the year 2023-24 is Rs 17.19 lakh crores and the GDP Per Capita is Rs 1,21,267. As per available information 8.60% of the population of the state is living below poverty line in 2023. The unemployment rate of West Bengal as of March 23 was 4.84%. Cognisable offences registered in the state during 2020 was 1,58,060, 2021 - 1,57,498 and 2022 - 1,56,503. During 2022 there were 56,59,787 IPC cases under investigation in the state. Crime rate against women in West Bengal is 71.8 per cent against the national average of 65.4 per cent.
