NO MONEY WITH THE STATE GOVERNMENT

           Rashtrapati Bhavan

The government of Kerala is facing a tough situation to meet the day to day expenditures. The successive governments have not done anything positive to enhance the revenue adequately for the state. The governments are totally depending upon alcohol and lottery for revenue other than taxes. It is quite surprising that a state like Kerala, having adequate resources like one of the best infrastructure and manpower available in the country putting no efforts to utilise those. On the other hand, the trade unions helped to close down a good number of industries and prevented many businesses houses and industrial units from setting into the state. Instead of finding fault with the governments, it is always better to find faults with the people as a whole. Other than looking for the competence of the people, we are looking for their political backgrounds to rule us. We cannot expect much from such people. For instance, the highest income made by the state in tourism is about Rs. 40,000 crores. While comparing with countries with much less attractions, earn many times more than us. With some little arrangements and publicity, undoubtedly we can raise this earning to Rs. 2 lakhs crores. Large amounts of people can also be brought into the tourism sector. We must also try to prevent the frequent road block and shop close protests. Tourists may reluctant to visit such places. Safety of women should be ensured throughout the state.

We have adequate scope for bringing up large numbers of industries in the state. Let us recall a South Korean team consisting of 21 industrialists visited the state and conducted extensive survey to start major industries without acquiring much land. They had the plan to utilize the homespace of the staff for industrial purposes. This is reported to have successfully established in South Korea, Japan, etc. However most unfortunately, the then cheif minester  reported to have refused to discuss with those industrialists and later they were asked to come after a month, but they have never come. All these things are happening because of our meaningless socioeconomic ideologies. We have no reluctance to admit and carry forward the economic theories rejected by the world en masse.

If our educated youth do not come forward, the situation may worsen. Instead of depending wholly on wretched politics, we should concentrate on the comfort of the people by raising their standard of living. Let us ensure ourselves that we have adequate resources to raise our standard of living to the international level provided we may skip these outdated political theories. Now the state government is facing problems to pay pension and other benefits to the people and probably in the coming days we may find more scarcity of fund for disbursing salary too. Whatever may happen we are determined not to deviate from politics. In such situation we may have to face all these adverse things. Just think about a four years presidential government like that of the USA. If that can be done we may be able to get rid of the corruption to a great extent. We can also find an end to the political nuisance of the umpteen number of parties now available. Above all we may have peace within the country. The decision is to be taken by the people.
