CORRUPTION EVERYWHERE!!!

We Indians are born in corruption, living in corruption and may die in corruption. A government servent, whether a highly qualified and well placed one, a middle placed one or low placed one, many of them are prone to corruption according to the repeated media reports on bribery, arrest and punishment. Government employees are now well paid but salary alone cannot appease many for their never ending thirst for money.

Why so much of corruption in India? The answer is simple. According to the web page of India Today, as on 2019, out of the 539 MPs in the Lok Sabha 233 have declared criminal cases against them. This must be the concise answer for all those irregular things happening in India. As per a report by Abhishek Sikdar in The Times of India web page dated December 14, 2020 the volume of black money held in India is quite huge. Quoting Arthakranta, a think tank, the writer says that black money is estimated to be 2-3 times of GDP of India. Our GDP being 210 lakhs crores rupees, the black money can be rupees 600 lakhs crores. Consequent to the demonetisation about 15% of black money held in cash have been removed. Now, leaving this, we can estimate the amount of black money in circulation.

Over and above these, huge binami (anonymous) transaction is bring taken place in the real estate sector. Though the government have brought laws to prevent these binami trade, still considerable volume of business is being taken place in this field. Huge amount of black money is held in our country in the form of gold. Here also the government have brought effective laws to curb this.

As a whole considerable amount of black money is in circulation in our country. This shows the existence of a parallel economy within our country. All these black money is genterated through corruption in different levels. The political system in our country is the prime cause of corruption. No one knows the exact amount of money held by political parties in our country. Though there can be very effective means to prevent corruption, no political party may venture into implement the same. However, if the honorable judiciary may voluntarily come forward with strict guidelines to check corruption, we can expect a positive result.
