PRIORITIES OF KERALA

The successive governments assuming power in the state, in most cases, fail to list the priorities of the state. The most significant among all priorities  must be the pci of the people. No effort is made even to detect the variation, leave alone the improvement. Infrastructure is another area where least attention is given. Despite having all the resources to make the state surplus in electricity generation we prefer to remain a deficit state.

Road is another segment where adequate development is not provided. Huge number of automobiles are brought into our roads every year..7,65,218 new vehicles were added into our roads in 2021. This was 6,40,467 in 2020 and 9,13,510 in 2019. Do we construct adequate length of roads to accommodate these vehicles? The answer is a flat 'no'. And the result is horrible. Upto December 2021 there were 33,321 road accidents and 3,426 deaths. This was 27,877 and 2,979 in 2020 and 41,111 and 4,440 in 2019.

Adequate attention should be given for road development in Kerala. All existing state roads should be made into six lanes.  A new north - south highway should be made through the eastern region of the state. All priorities should be given for the development and completion of boat service from north to south. We must also consider for a coastal shipping services between Mangalore and to the south in TN.

Until we improve the road network in the state, the accident rate may steeply rise. We must make all out efforts to develop the roads of the state to international level.
