MIGRATORY BIRDS COMING TO INDIA



During winter many birds from Siberia come to India. India is their winter home for these birds. Wide varieties of birds from different parts of the world migrate to our country during winter and summer for food, breeding and nesting.

Amur Falcon
Amur Falcon flocks across North East India from Siberia during winter. They breed around Doyang Lake in Nagaland.

Greater Flamingo
Greater Flamingo are the largest in the Flamingo family found in India. They can be found in Gujarat during the entire winter season.

Demoiselle Crane
These birds spent the entire winter in the subcontinent. They are among the smallest species of crane. They can be found in different environments. They are also found in the desrts of Rajasthan.

Bluethroat
It is brightly coloured passerine bird from thrush family. India is a winter home for these birds too. These can be found in large numbers in Keoladeo National Park of Bharatpur in Rajasthan.

Black-winged Stilt
This is a very long legged wader bird. These are usually found around the wet land. There are 5 sub species in this group.

Bar-headed Goose
Bar-headed Goose is the highest flying bird in the world. They migrate to India during every winter. They are found in the Himalayas, Assam and upto down south Tamil Nadu.

Rosy Starling
Rosy Starling is a black head, chest and taik with white body bird from Starling family. During winter they can be regularly found in Maharashtra, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

Black-tailed Godwit
This is a shore bird and found in the wet lands of India.

Ruddy Shelduck
Ruddy Shelduck is also known as Brahminy duck. This is a regular migratory bird and found in the wet lands of India. They come from South East Europe.

Osprey
This is a large raptor bird come to India in winter. They can be found in large numbers in Bhiwani bird sanctuary.

White Wagtail
They breed in the wintering ground in India. These birds from the Motacillidae family with pippits and long claws
