MAKE KERALA AN AYURVEDIC MEDICAL HUB

There are 17 Ayurveda Collegqes in Kerala. More than 40 Ayurvedic hospitals here we have. In India there are 273 BAMS Colleges and 3600 hospitals with 7.37 lakh medical practitioners. There are 4584 seats in 413 Institutions for learning Ayurveda in India. There are 6.34 lakh hectares of herbal plants cultivation in India. However herbal plant cultivation in Kerala is only about 700 acres. Even though there is a minimum earning of Rs 3 lakh per acre, our concerned authorities are not encouraging herbal plants cultivation in our state.

It is high time that we must enhance our earnings from tourism multifold. Bring up the state as a medical hub. Give preference to Ayurveda. Initially we must set up a large Ayurvedic complex in the state preferably in the Idukki district with an area over 500 acres. Have well equipped treatment centres of international standard. All major Ayurvedic Institutions of the state can take part in this by having their own independent establishments with competent staff. Different varieties of herbs and packed medicines should be available in large quantity. It should be a well designed and organised complex. There should.be lodging facilities, standard restaurants, shopping complex, bus and taxi stands, swimming pools, mini cinema theatre,  mini halls, places of worship etc.

Due publicity should be given in national and international level. We may take help of all Indian embassies abroad and other available useful establishments for propoganda. The state government must use all available resources for the development of this complex and thereby establishment of Kerala as a well known medical hub in the world.
