CRIME AND POLITICS

We Indians seems to be the most liberal in forgiveness. We forgive every crime. No crime can stain one, if he or she is an Indian politician. That is the amazing faith in politics!

V K Sasikala's re-entry into Tamil Nadu politics is not unexpected. She may form a new party or rename some existing party. She may win election. She may become the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

After completing four years sentence in a disproportionate assets case former AIADMK leader V K Sasikala who was expelled from the party, now released from the Central Jail, Parappana Agrahara Prison, Bangalore. She has reported to have taken necessary astrological cover before proceeding to Chennai. She also found time to visit a good number of temples. She was welcomed by thousands enroute. "Long live the leader who sacrificed herself", was heard from all over.

The ED alleged that huge payments were made to individuals in Malaysia and firms in US. Money was alleged to have routed through unauthorised channels without getting permission from RBI. Sasikala was the live-in-aide of former chief minister Jayalitha who was accused of amassing wealth to the tune of ₹66 crores. Sasikala was accused of abetment and criminal conspiracy in the matter. In order to prevent any undue influence the case was shifted from Tamil Nadu to Karnataka. In September 2014, all four accused were sentenced to a four year jail term and a fine of ₹100 crores by a special court in Bangalore. In May 2015, the Karnataka High Court reversed the verdict and acquitted them all. This order of the HC was challenged in the Supreme Court and later Sasikala was sentenced to imprisonment.

Now she is back to political arena, aiming the chair of CM of Tamil Nadu. Is she reformed herself and become a clean person or the concept of crime has been redefined? The current estimated population of Tamil Nadu is 7.88 crores. From so much of people can they not find a young, energetic, qualified, efficient and honest person to rule them?
