BOTTOM TO TOP

(Continued from yesterday)
We Indians too have seen many people climbing to success from bottom line. Let us find a few of them here.

Karsanbhai Patel
Karsanbhai Patel used to make detergent powder at the backyard of his house in Ahmedabad and was carrying out door to door selling of this by cycle. He was selling this @₹3/- per kg with a money back guarantee. The lowest price of detergents at that time was ₹13/- per kg. And that ₹3/- detergent of Karsanbhai Patel is the most popular household name, Nirma! We all know the rest of the story. Today the company has over 25,000 employees and a turnover of over ₹20,500 crores. Karsanbhai Patel is in Forbes list of billionaires.

Patricia Narayan
Patricia started her career as a business person 30 years ago selling eateries at the Marina beach. She was battling with a failed marriage, coping with a multiple addict husband and taking care of two children. We may find the growth from her own words. "I started my business with just two people. Now there are 200 people working for me in my restaurants. My lifestyle has changed too. From traveling in a cycle rickshaw, I moved to auto rickshaw and now I have my own car. From 50 paise a day, my revenue has gone up to ₹2 lakhs a day."  She is now the winner of the FICCI Woman Entrepreneur of the year. Her advice to the youth coming into business field: "Do not ever compromise on quality. Never lose your self confidence. Believe in yourself and the product you are making. Always stick to what you know. When you employ people , you should know what you ask them to do."

Ramesh Babu
Ramesh Babu himself is a story of a barber becoming a millionaire. From the meagre saving of the saloon business he bought a Maruti van in 1994 and started a car rental service. In 2004 he had 7 regular cars and in 2014 he had a fleet of over 200 cars. He had 75 luxury cars in the fleet including Mercedes, BMWs, Audi's and the ultimate pride the Rolls Royce. When many people entered into car rental business, Ramesh found the competition tough he added more luxury cars into his fleet. The small time people could not cope with him.
