THE GOLDEN CROSS
THERE lived a young man. He believed that he had more sufferings, struggles and miseries than others. He always prayed God to change his cross of troubles. He met a sage one day. He asked the sage why God has given him so much of sufferings while others have less of it and live happily. The sage told him. "The troubles are equal in all men but the intensity varies according to the negative energy gathered in each one". The young man countered. "If I get wealth and power I can over come these." The sage advised him. "You can not man. It is easy for you to carry what you have now than to carry what you desire to." The sage could not appease him and he went away. He continued to pray God to change the cross he was carrying.
One day an angel appeared before him. The angel said. "God have heard your prayer. He is pleased to change your cross. You can come with me and select a new cross of your choice" The angel took him to a beautiful valley and showed him large number of crosses scattered over there and said. "Every human has to carry one of these. In your case you are allowed to leave the one you are carrying and pick up a new one"
The man threw away the decayed wooden cross he was carrying and went near a beautiful cross made of precious metals and stones. He tried to lift it. Despite putting all his power he could not move it a little. Leaving the beautiful cross he went near another one made of diamond and pearls but could not lift that too. He continued with his effort for quite a long time but the result was similar every where. After trying almost all crosses he found one which he could easily lift. That was the wooden cross he was carrying .
Whenever we face problems in life we all pray God in the same way as the young man prayed. If God offer you one alternative situation we shall not be able to accept it but prefer to go back to our own one.
