WHAT IS AFTER THE LOCK DOWN

The coming months after lifting the Lock Down can be very sensitive for the whole country especially for the state of Kerala. Once the Air and Train services are resumed there can be a huge inflow of people coming from all over the world and from other states of our country. It can be beyond our estimation. Whatever quarantine arrangements we make can be inadequate for the number of people coming. Testing more people in a given period of time may be another challenge. Initially there may not be too many Covid 19 patients, but certainly there can be some. If utmost care is not taken the spilled out carriers can create havoc in the state.

It is preferable, therefore, to have a safe assessment, that too on the higher side, to set a target. An elasticity may also be maintained in the total number of beds available in the hospitals and the number of medical personnel available. A good number of nurses affected with the disease in other states who belong to Kerala have already made complaints about the inadequacy of treatment provided to them. The government of Kerala may consider this with a positive mind.

Let us all remember the fact that prevention is the only way we have now. Medicine cannot be expected in the near future. It is a matter of fact that the state government has handled exceedingly well the initial outbreak and we all together have to maintain the momentum.
