GULF MALAYALEES

The spread of coronavirus has brought some of our brethren of the Gulf region in agonizing footing. The Chief Minister of Kerala is understood to have brought their pathetic condition to the knowledge of the Prime Minister. Under this circumstances the Gulf Malayalees can be seen in three categories. The first one is those who are interested to continue there. The second one is those who can manage to remain there. The third category however cannot afford to continue there for many reasons. Some of them are infected with the Covid19 and under treatment. Few of them cannot afford the highly enhanced airfare too.

With the help of the Indian Embassies and the Malayalee Associations there the Government Kerala may try to bring back those people belonging to the third category as above through the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India as early as possible. It may not be an untimely highlight that the Malayalees abroad have remitted a sum of over one and half lakh rupees to our state in the past year. Since they are the backbone of the state economy we too are bound to do something in return at this panic situation.
