COVID19 AND CHINESE INFLUENCE IN INDIAN ECONOMY

China has become a strong competitor for India in the field of medical components. It is not a new case. China has already made huge investments in many fields in different countries of the world with the ultimate aim of gaining supremacy in their economy. China has made investments in a number of Indian start up companies to the tune of 2 billion USD in 2018 and 3.9 billion USD in 2019. These investments are made by Chinese firms like Alibaba, Tencent Holdings etc. Chinese government is believed to have share holdings of considerable value in these companies. This is nothing but an economic game played by China focusing towards the future.

However, in order to counter this, Government of India has made necessary amendments in the FDI act. The Indian government has made it mandatory to obtain prior approval for FDI from countries that are sharing boarders with India.  This alteration in the law is primarily aimed at China. European Union too have grave concern over this matter. Necessary law may be stipulated by them to protect the member countries from this Chinese over stepping.

We may have to look deeper in the matter. In spite of the friendship they offer India cannot see China as a trustworthy friend after the war of 1962. This war however, taught us much and helped to augment our arms store. Now, the road constructed by China through PoK is a direct threat for us. What Pakistan is trying to do in Kashmir can be safely concluded that those are under the advice of China with far reaching consequences. The ultimate aim of China seemed to be making PoK an independent territory for Pakistan and later to be occupied by China. We should, therefore, gather wholesome support from all our neighbouring countries including Pakistan. How do it is depending upon our intelligence and tactics.
