JAMSHEDJI TATA - THE MOST BENEVOLENT INDIAN
Ancestors of the Tata family came to India from Persia in the 8th century. They originally settled in Navsari, Gujarat and then came to Bombay. The Tata family consisted of Jamshedji Tata, Dorabji Tata, Ratanji Tata, Naval Tata, R D Tata, J R D Tata, Ratan Tata, Simone Tata, Noel Tata.
Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata started the Tata Group in 1868. He began the business as a Trading Company with an investment of Rs 21,000/- Now Tata Group is India's largest business conglomerate, with products and services in over 160 countries and operations in 100 countries. The estimated revenue of the company is US$ 165 billion (2024) 1,028,000 employees were in the Tata Sons in FY 2023.
Prime products of the Tatas are: Automotive, Chemicals, Defence, Electronics, FMCG, Jewellery, Home Appliances, Steel etc. The service of Tata Group includes, Airlines, Aerospace, Consultancy, Electric utility, Electric power, Finance, Hospitality, Hotels, Information Technology, Retail, E-commerce, Real Estate and Telecommunication.
While the Tatas are the largest Indian Companies in goods and services, the same Tatas are greatest in benevolence too in India and may be highly recogniseable in the whole world. The donations by the Tata Trust as on 2021 was $102.4 billion. In order to evaluate it we must see the report of the Forbes as on the year 2021, which says that the net worth of Sri Mukesh Ambani was $92.7 billion.
