Top six countries in the final medal tally of the Paris Olympics 2024 are given below.
(Country* Population*Gold*Silv*Brnz)
                  in millions
USA     345.62            40 - 44 - 42
China 1418.96           40 - 27 - 24
Japan  123.00           20 - 12 - 13
Aus        26.70           18 - 18 - 16
Fra         66.56           16 - 26 - 22
Ned       18.24           15 - 07 - 12

India 1452.38          00 - 01 - 05
This makes India's position in the medal tally at 71.

In the total medal tally of all modern Olympic games, USA with 2959 medals is on top, followed by USSR with 1204 on second place and Germany with 922 is on third place. India has so far won 41 medals in total from all Olympic games including 2 silver medals by Norman Pritchard in 1900 and a bronze medal by K D Jadhav for wrestling in 1952.

Here we Indians should ask ourselves that who is responsible for this pathetic performance of our country in front of the world. Certainly the responsibility fall on the entire people of the country, the government, the sport associations and such bodies and people who are receiving money from the government for anything related  to development of sports, association and institutions pertaining to selection, training and performance of the sports teams.

We may try to find out from the winner countries as much as possible about the mode of selection, training, feeding etc and try to implement those more effectively in our country.

Another suggestion is open sports villages in as many states as possible. These sports villages should have enough land for different stadiums and all other sports goods, equipment, lodging including canteen facilities. The trainers from India and abroad be accommodated there for long. Children should be selected from class VI onwards as full time sport personnel. They must have separate Schools and teachers including seperate syllabus. Those taking part in Olympics should have assured employment. The medal winners should be handsomely rewarded.

Another way of encouragement for winning more medals is private and public sector industries participation in this effort. They may recruit sports personnel in their industries and give due training to them. If those personnel are found eligible as per the selection criteria they can be selected for coming Olympic games. If any of them win medals, their respective industries shall be provided considerable percentage of income tax rebate for the ensuing year. This may encourage more and participations from large industrial and other business establishments.

And another important matter in this should be that no corruption should be allowed in the entire sports network. If we jointly put our best efforts, India, the most populated country in the world can be the most Olympic medal bagging country in the world too.
