CORRUPTION AND POLITICS IN INDIA

India may be one of the most corrupt countries in the world. The prime reason for this is that there is no effective laws and the strict follow up of those existing laws. Untill the law become intolerable, the corrupt may continue with their trades. If the corruption is committed by a government employee, he should lose his job for ever. He should be asked to pay penalty of about ten times of the amount involved in the corruptive activities. Such ones should be never considered for a government job in the future. He should also undergo a minimum imprisonment of five years. Same punishment should be triggered in the case of an elected member too. Therefore, the government has to take  two steps immediately. First is to frame the law. The second is to strictly implement the law.  If this could be done without any reluctance we can make our country corruption free.

According to some studies conducted by Vito Tanzi in India and in some other countries, corruption is caused by excessive regulation and authorisation requirements, complicated taxes and licensing system, mandated spending programmes, lack of competitive market, monopolisation of certain goods and services providers by certain government controlled institutions, bureaucracy, lack of penalties for corrupt public officials and lack of transparent laws and processes.

Politics is also cause for corruption in India. Political corruption is the use of powers by government officials or their network contact for illegitimate private gain. Basically it is the illegitimate relationship between government officials and the private owners or agencies for their mutual hidden gains. Though all political parties can not be stamped as involved in corruption, as per media reports from time and again most of the political parties of our country are prone to commit corruption.

Corruption is something which most people of India want to eradicate from this country but they cannot do anything in this. It is solely depends with the Government of India to frame suitable law, implement the law most efficiently with adequate follow up actions. However, in spite of all the odds, the people of the country should be fully aware of the individual politicians, the political parties and all those involved in corruption. The public may use the social media the maximum possible to expose the corrupt in front of the public.
