TV DEBATES, MOSTLY BECOME COMEDY SHOWS

Almost all Malayalam TV news channels conduct political debates all seven days in a week. Generally current issues are taken as the subject for discussion. Major political parties are made to participate in this. Almost every day the debate reach the boiling point while concluding. When one says yes the other says no is the prime trend of the discussion. Unfortunately these debates normally looks like comedy shows in most days because of the ignorance exposed by some of the participants. In some occasions the law itself were misinterpreted by learned people. This is done to express their loyalty to the party they belong to.

In fact the subjects for debate is selected by channels to draw more viewers than for the benefits of the state. The state government is at the rock bottom level of economic growth. The government is trying hard to meet the day to day needs . There are many issues needs urgent attention. Unfortunately none of our news channels find time to discuss these subjects and suggest ways and means to resolve these. People from different walks of life can be brought into the discussion to find their minds too.

The following subjects can be included in the general debate.

How to eradicate corruption from the state.

How to ensure safety of women in the state.

Better methods to sort out the problems of the people than going for strike, shop closing, blocking roads, bundh, hartal etc.

How to bring down the POCSO cases to zero.

How to have more industries in the state.

How to multiple the tourist inflow to the state.

How to draw more and more qualified youth into tourism sector.

Can we keep the entire state clean.

Can we make the state narcotics free.

Can we have cleaner and disciplined politics in the state.

Can we curtail the road accident in the state considerably.

Can we have insecticides free vegetables and fruits.

Can we have unadulterated food articles.

There are hundreds of such subjects need urgent attention of the government. TV channels can draw the attention of the government by bringing competent people to TV platform for discussion of these subjects than going for VC appointments or a politician's slip of tongue.
