LOOK AT HONG KONG
Hong Kong was a colony and independent territory of the British from 1841 to 1997. In between there was a brief occupation by the Japanese from 1941 to 1945. Prior to these Hong Kong was under Chinese rule during the Qin Dynasty in the 3rd century BC and remained with China for about 2000 years. Hong Kong returned to Chinese control after a century and a half of British rule. The transfer was meant to establish a "one country, two systems" relationship with China and Hong Kong that would last until 2047. The people of Hong Kong however accuse China for contradiction of the agreement and overstepping to their authority. As per the "one country, two systems" outlined by the Sino-British Joint Declaration, Hong Kong would continue operating in a capitalist economy and the people would continue to have rights to speech, press, assembly and religious belief among other things at least for fifty years.
Soon after the formation of the new Hong Kong, China started violating the agreement. China has imposed a new security law for Hong Kong which makes easier to punish anyone who open out their mouth. With the help of this law China want to mould the people of Hong Kong in Chinese style. Altogether what is happening in Hong Kong is total human rights violation. This is not confined merely within the territory of China, Tibet, Hong Kong and Macau but extended to all other countries sharing border with China including Taiwan, Vietnam, Laos, Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Mangolia, India, Nepal, Myanmar etc. Further to these China is using their money to interfere with the sovereignty of poor countries like Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc. Just because China has some stock of arms with them can they play hooliganism with any country?
With the help of the new law they could extradite many from Hong Kong to China for trial under Chinese law. None of those extradited are expected to return home during their lifetime.
Many people from Hong Kong are dteained in the main land under different charges. Many have taken asylum in other countries for fear of torture. Simon Cheng, a Hong Kong citizen and a former employee of the British consulate, was detained in mainland China for long on trumped up charges of soliciting prostitution, which he says he confessed under torture.
According to a survey conducted by a Chinese University of Hong Kong some time back, only 13% of the Hong Kong population support a Chinese rule there. The remaining people prefer an independent Hong Kong. Here come the question, whether the whole world is going to stand as silent spectators or they will raise some voice against the Chinese atrocities in Hong Kong in the appropriate forums.
