GOLDEN CRIMINALS

Loopholes in law is widely used by criminals in India. Since the money involved in many of the crime is huge they succeed in getting protection from the power centers and finally get scot-free. In the case of smuggling of gold,  about 25% of the total import is coming through illegal channels. According to reliable sources about 800 tonnes of gold were brought to the country last year of which 200 tonnes are believed to have come through wrong path. The central government is loosing about ₹11,000/- crores in an year by way of customs duty. Further to this the state is loosing over ₹2,500/- crores by way of GST. Only a few number of culprits were picked by the authorities concerned. There is something seriously wrong in our system. The central and state governments may take adequate measures to block the loopholes of law. Political parties accusing one another is not the solution. There must be a uniform and purpose oriented action to prevent this serious crime. While this make a serious dent in our economy on the one hand, this huge sum is used by terrorist groups to destroy our own land on the other. The government and the people together should take this seriously and try to find an end to these destructive activities.
