CURRENT INDIAN CRICKET TEAM IS NOT WORLD BEATERS

           (G R Viswanath)

It may sound strange but it must be the truth that the present Indian cricket team is not competent enough to win the world cricket title. The reasons are many. We have a good number of good batsmen. Many are good hitters too, but none are stable. No one can confidently take up a set task.

Our bowling sector is also more or less similar. Either in picking wickets or in checking runs we don't have any reliable bowlers. However, most of our bowlers have some shining spells here and there. None is confident enough to make a winning performance in world level matches. We also have extreme scarcity for genuine allrounders too.

While we were constrained to pick a team from a scant list a few decades ago, now we have a choice over hundred play to pick from. And that lavishness made the team management to make constant trial and error methods. That must be the outcome of today.

Let us now select a team for a long period of time. Try to avoid the replacement of players frequently.  Let the player have the confidence that even if he fails in this game he will have opportunities to play more games. This belief will make to take more risk as and when needed and also help to avoid unwanted risk.

The media should avoid praising the players while preparing for the tournaments, instead should try to spot the errors of the individual players. However when the team is returning after winning a tournament, shower the praise with no dearth.
