EXTRATERRESTRIAL INTELLIGENCE

Extraterrestrial intelligence is in the discussion among the scientific community for quite some time. There have been many reports alongwith images of findings of Unidentified Flying Objects from different parts of the world. Many aircraft pilots said to have witnessed UFOs around the world, mostly in the US region. However, so far, there is no credible reports about any extraterrestrial intelligence visiting our earth.

Though shadowed by controversy, there are some reports about life from unknown region. In August 1977 an Ohio State University radio telescope detected an unusual pulse of radiation from somewhere near the constellation Sagittarius. The 37 second long signal was so startling that an astronomer monitoring the data scrawled "Wow" on the telescope printout. In 2002 Russian astrobiologists claimed that super-hardy Deinococcus radiouranus evolved on Mars. The microbe can survive several thousand times the radiation dose that would kill a human. In Feb 2003, astronomers with the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) project, used a massive telescope in Puerto Rico to re-examine 200 sections of the sky which had all previously yielded unexplained radio signals. These signals had all disappeared,  except for one which had become stronger. The signal, widely thought to be the best candidate yet for an alien contact, comes from a spot between the constellations Pisces and Aries.

Are their civilizations more advanced than ours is still being probed by the scientists. It is beyond our imagination that how it would be by size, shape and state. It could be in another dimension, another way of communication and with different reaction. In a wild imagination there can be thousands of planets like our earth in our galaxy alone bearing intelligence may be advanced than ours. In his later years, Stephen Hawking repeatedly warned about the dangers of humankind meeting alien civilizations. He suggested that alien civilizations sufficiently advanced to visit Earth may be hostile. "Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they could reach. Who knows what the limits would be?" Hawking said.

We can imagine about extraterrestrial super intelligence with our conventional theories of dimensions. If it varies in any way we may not be able to see, feel or communicate with it. In all probability it would be a visit from away than we visit the one away. Let us wait for that moment at any time.
