FAITH IN GOD

Faith is a word used by almost all religions to indicate strong attachment of their members with the system. The meaning of faith according to Oxford Dictionary is, a) complete trust or confidence in someone or something, b) strong belief in the doctrines of a religion based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.

Christianity gives great significance to faith in attaining the Supreme One. Faith comes through multiple means, by hearing, reading or being taught the Word of God. It cannot be 'worked up', 'bought', 'desired', 'prayed for' or 'invoked' on someone. The common word for 'faith' is the Greek word 'pistis' and this word is used 244 times in the New Testament.

We may move away from the complex definition of the word and try to ascertain the meaning and can find that faith is nothing but the link between man and God. Faith derives from love and ends up in total dependence, rather surrender. Through the cord of faith we can bring down  power from the Almighty and shower it for the betterment of people around us. The all important power that come to us from the Supreme One is love and peace. We can give these to others in abundance.

Jesus told: "I promise you, if you have faith, though it be but like a grain of mustard seed, you have only to say this mountain, Remove from this place to that, and it will remove;  nothing will be impossible to you." (Mathew 17:20) This is the power of faith promised by Jesus Christ.  The faith to the size of mustard seed denotes a faith that is slightly better than a faithlessness state. When nothing will be impossible with that measure of faith, we can imagine the power of faith. The one who have faith in God will have no enemies. He will always be with love and compassion towards his fellow beings.

The most important aspect of faith is that we cannot do anything wrong with faith because we are amalgamated with God in faith.
