COMPARISON BETWEEN INDIA AND NORDIC COUNTRIES IN SAFETY OF WOMEN

According to the Women. Peace and Security Index by Georgetown University and the Peace Research Institute Oslo, Denmark is ranked as the safest country 
for women in the world. Nordic countries like Norway , Iceland, Sweden and Finland closely follow in the global list. Singapore is found to have one of the urban safest environment globally.

Ranking of top countries among the total  surveyed countries with a number of 181.
1 Denmark, 2 Iceland, 3 Norway, 4 Sweden, 5 Finland, 6 Luxembourg, 7 Belgium, 8 Netherlands, 9 Austria, 9 New Zealand.

Our Motherland India ranks 128 out of 177 countries.

India 
In 2025 alone there is a sharp surge reported in cyber crimes targetting women. According to National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal during the last one year 76,650 cyber crimes were reported against women. Asper available records, considering the crime reported against women in 2023 and 2024 the annual crime rate comes around.4.4 lakhs. While analysing the data of NCRB as well as that of the government, there are about 80 to 90 rape cases are reported per day. Further to these, as per reports, an average of 6,000 to 7,000 women are killed across India in an year, in dowry related cases and other suspicious cases.

According to Ashoka University's crime statistics report of 2024, 4,41,534 crime against women were reported in India, which makes an average of 1210 cases per day.

All these are happening in India because of our wrong political approach. Our politics is not for the development of the country and thereby the welfare of the people. Corruption is in the forefront  our political target. None of our political manifestos say that corruption will be eradicated from this country. If a perfect and honest enquiry can be conducted throughout the country we can just evaluate the depth of corruption in our country. Most important among all preventive measures we must include all about corruption and the preventive means in our school syllabus from class IV to class XII. Let us all together convert our country from hell to heaven.

DO WE HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE COMING GENERATION?

Undoubtedly we have responsibilities for the coming generation. We hold these  responsibilities under different perspectives. As parents we have large responsibility for them. Similarly, as teachers, as social workers, politicians, judicial members, law and order governors, religious leaders etc we have unfathomable responsibilities towards the coming generations. It is we who are bound to mould them. The prime tool to mould them is education.
