CAN WE BRING DOWN THE CRIME RATE

We can very well bring down the crime rate in our state as well as in the whole country. The first thing we need towards this direction is that we all should have a common wish to live here peacefully. Rest of the things are manageable. Of late people have an increased tendency to commit crimes. Most of those commit crimes know how to escape from punishment. Bribing the concerned officials or using the political connections are the common method used to get away from punishment. Allowing a criminal to escape is as good as committing a similar crime. Recently the parents of a young girl publicly said in a TV programme that their daughter was raped and killed leaving adequate evidence to prove the crime. Unfortunately, they said that the concerned government officials had taken all precautions to hide the fact and evidences. Such things are not abnormal in our country.

The normal crimes fall under following categories. Monetory, sex related, political and road accidents by carelessness. Behind many of these crimes including accidents,  narcotics can be seen as the prime cause. Another aspect that prompts accidents is the easy way to escape from punishment.  Corruptive means are widespread to save one from certain punishment. The government may take special attention to give stringent punishment to all corrupt elements.

The government may arrange to give equally stringent punishment for those who protect the criminals too. Another important aspect to bring down crime is to authorise judiciary to get crime registered as per the media reports. Government may arrange two or three open jails at different parts of the state. Those who commits minor offences and repeated offences may be sent to open jails. Open Jails should be used for reformation of criminals with the help of counselling and medical aid by professionals. The progress of the inmates should be constantly watched.

Crime reporting format should provide the cast of each criminal. This will help the concerned religious leaders to identify the people belonging to their religion and to take steps to reform the respective ones and also to try to bring down the criminal tendency of their people. Similarly all about crime, detection, prevention etc shoul be included in the school syllabus from class IV to class XII. This will also help to prevent crimes to a great extent.

If our country should have adequate development economically in par with developed countries of the world, we must keep away crime from our country.
