TRAIN ACCIDENT IN ORISSA, THE CAUSE SHOULD BE FOUND

The unconfirmed report shows that the death toll in yesterday's train accident is over 288 and the injured are about 1091. 56 people are reported to be in serious condition. A joint team after inspecting the accident site is reported to have arrived at a conclusion that it was happened due to signalling system failure. Whatever it may be, it will finally lead to an individual. It is a matter of hours to locate that individual. It should not be delayed. It can also be the result of an erroneous system. There may be top level political leaders to save that suspected person or a wrong system, which should not be allowed. The railway must find out the exact reason that caused this accident. It may please be ensured that such horrible things do not repeat.

When railway is doing so much to enhance the comfort of the passengers, speed of the train and improving the signalling system, could we not update safety standard in international level? This may be something that we must focus with more attention. In the recent past about 495 people have died in five train accidents. As per   information received by a person under RTI act, not a single person has been punished in these accidents causing these much of deaths. Then what can we expect in this case, let us wait and see. However, people believe in the Hon'ble Prime Minister's assurance.

At this hour, let us recall the resignation of late Sri Lal Bahadur Sasthri, then Rly Minister, after a train accident in 1956.
