FOOD ADULTERATION CROSSED ALL LIMITS

Food adulteration has crossed all limits in our state. People started falling dead after taking food is a much serious issue. We have a ministry and a seperate department to check food adulteration in the state. Unfortunately despite all preventive arrangements, large quantities of vegetables and fruits infected with high amount of pesticides are sent into our state and our people are made to eat it. Coconut oil mixed with used Mobil oil is reported to have sold in Kerala market. Chilli, coriander powders and other spices are highly adulterated. Harmful contents are reportedly mixed with hotel food, bakery items, fish, meet, chicken, egg and milk in our state.

Unless government make stringent laws and take strict follow up action these dangerous crimes may continue in our state and people fall dead here. Along with the government actions the media should also come to the forefront. All offences of adulteration should be reported in detail including name and address of the offender, nature of adulteration so that the people can take necessary precautions..(Media should not try to have commercial interests here.) Adequate compensation should be provided to the victims at the earliest. We must also remember that this will have terrific impact on the tourism sector too. A government with a nearly empty exchequer should see these more seriously.
