VACCINE FOR COVID19 (Part III)

Image
(Continued from 29.06.20) Six Indian companies are working on coronavirus vaccine. A vaccine for coronavirus is unlikely to be ready for mass use before 2021, says a top Indian scientist.  " While Zydus Cadila is working on two vaccines, Serum Institute, Biological E, Bharat Biotech, Indian Immunologicals and Mynvax are developing one vaccine each," Gagandeep Kang, executive director of the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, Faridabad, told PTI. But it is a complicated process with many stages of testing and many challenges, explained experts. A vaccine for the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, may not take 10 years that other vaccines do but it could be at least a year before it is proven safe, effective, and made widely available, they said. "Vaccine development is a lengthy process which often takes years, with many challenges," said E Sreekumar, chief scientific officer at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in Kerala. "The

BIGGEST BLUNDER BY CHINA

Image
China  has finally committed the worst trespass in it's recent history. It was not for acquiring more land for it's people but to stop the growth of its most trusted neighbour. From the very day Xi Jinping became the Chinese Premier i.e on 14 March 2013, he couldn't maintain a smooth relationship with India though we wanted it. He wanted to make more Tibets around India to impose his muzzle power on us. His greed made him to dream to sit on the head of the world. He was thinking about removing US from the super power seat and placing China on it. The faint relation he made with President Donald Trump was misconstrued by him. Now he is trying to bring India forcefully to his fold. The super greed of the Chinese President to rule the world did not allow him to learn more about these two great nations, India and America. Finally this greed has brought him to the verge of eradication.  The newly acquired friends, Pakistan and Nepal shall be of no use for the surviva

VACCINE FOR COVID 19 (Part II)

Image
(Continued from yesterday) There  are good number of assumptions and presumptions about vaccine for Covid 19. Some say it is so close but some other say it is too far. Let us continue with our mask, soap and distancing. On the vaccine front, American biotech firm Moderna was one of the first companies in the world to react to the Covid 19 outbreak back in January. It began working on its mRNA-1273 vaccine. The potential Covid 19 vaccine since entered clinical trials, received a funding boost of close to $500m and been fast tracked through regulatory protocols by the US FDA. P fizer, Merck, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca moved to the forefront of the race to find a coronavirus vaccine. Two major pharma companies, P fizer from the US and BioNTech from Germany, announced to join hands to co-develop and distribute a potential coronavirus vaccine. Development of mRNA vaccine programme, BNT162, was expected to enter clinical testing in April 2020. Inovio looks to be an und

VACCINE FOR COVID19

Many  companies across the world are working on vaccines that could be used as a preventive measure against Covid19. Some others are working on antiviral drugs against this disease. "People are looking into whether existing antivirals might work or whether new drugs could be developed to try to tackle the virus," said Dr Bruce Y Lee, a professor at the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy. It can take a decade or more for a new compound to go from initial discovery to the market place. Many compounds never even make it that far. Scientists from UK identified three stages of infection at which the virus could be targeted; keeping the virus from entering our cells, preventing it from replicating inside the cells, and minimising the damage that the virus does to the organs. Remdesivir -   Developed a decade ago,  found in research with MERS, a disease caused by a different coronavirus, showed that the drug blocked the virus from replicating. Arbi

WHY CHINA IRRITATES INDIA

Image
There is no reason to believe that China has any inborn or hereditary enmity with India. Does India harm China in the recent past in any manner? The answer would be negative. Why, then, China irritates India continuously? It seems that the Chinese themselves have created a cause for this; dispute the boarder line. They are successfully playing this game from 1962. So far they have encroached over thousands of sq km area of ours. Why we have allowed this is a matter of debate. China seems to be toying with the idea of sitting on the head of the world for quite sometime. They know that it is tough to overtake US and to certain extent Russia too. They must be having there own assessment and planning for this. They must also be aware of that arms alone cannot bring this dream to be a reality; something more is needed. In order to achieve this, primarily they should muster the support of as many countries as possible. China knows well that they cannot do this. To become a super

WHY INDIA PREFER TO STAY BEHIND

Image
While  the whole world is looking to India to sell their products and services, we ourselves fail to find the needs of our own people. We have enough natural resources and a huge man power, yet we call ourselves poor. We go around the world to find opportunities because we cannot create opportunities. We don't have political leadership who can direct us prosperity. For instance, let us take the state of Kerala. Over 33 million people with highest literacy of the country. Huge number of professionally qualified youth. One of the best infrastructure of the country and adequate energy and communication network. Connected with road, rail, water and air with four international airports. One of the finest tourist destination of the world with wide variety of art forms, large range of food diversity and unbound natural beauty Despite all the necessary ingredients to become rich, most of the people are reluctant to perspire within the state but outside the state are willing to

NEW ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES

Image
During  the recent speeches our Prime Minister has indicated that the coronavirus epidemic has opened a good number of opportunities for our economic growth. The country as a whole or the states independently have not taken this matter seriously. The new investors who have diverted their destination from China and those have establishments there are looking for new locations. Though India can provide ideal ground for them for safe investments, so far  no move could be seen from any state to canvas the opportunity. The Central Government also has not announced any policy to bag these investments. States like Kerala are facing problem to meet the day to day expenses. Huge amounts have already been drawn as credit from various sources. In the history of Kerala this credit is always mounting, never came down by a rupee in the progress chart. Still every successive government is looking for agumenting the credit amount. Alternative revenue is liquor, lottery, taxes etc. No gover

PROVOCATION BY CHINESE MEDIA

Image
Chinese media is doing their best to provoke India. One of their mouth piece news papers 'Global Times'  is understood to have reported that India China war will be like a egg dashing against a rock. (Global Times is a news paper published from Beijing in Chinese and English under People's Daily) Chinese military expert and TV commentator Song Zhongping told the Global Times on Tuesday that the clash was the result of a provocative military operation conducted by Indian troops that was planned for a long time. They added that the incident was a surprise attack by Indian troops. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that this Indian aggression is intentionally staged, enhanced military action aimed at capturing Chinese territories that India has long sought of and is an egoistic move by India to shift away enormous domestic pressure caused by social problems including the Covid19 epidemic. 'Breaking their promises, Indian troops had again cro

WHAT IS BEHIND THE ENMITY OF CHINA AND PAKISTAN WITH INDIA

Image
The enmity of China and Pakistan with India is beyond reasons. We Indians are doing no harm to China or Pakistan. Since those two do not have any genuine reasons to highlight other than sheer greed, both have made common cause; raise claims for our land. While China is claiming most land close to the boarder as theirs and threatens us with arms, Pakistan is making similar claims at the boarder for our land. If any of them think that they can take possession of our land by the use of gun, it is a mere day dream. Though we Indians hate a war with our neighbours, if forced, we are ready to offer upto the last drop of blood to our Mother India to see the end of our enemies. It is always good for both of them to be contented with the land they have, the people they have and the resources they have. Do not be greedy for others land, resources and efforts. SUICIDE BY YOUNG CHILDREN

Image
A  few number of suicide deaths of young school children in Kerala recently drawn wide attention from teachers, sociologists, psychiatrists etc. All of them have suggested various remedial measures to prevent such sorrowful happenings in the future. Of course, suicide is not something that happens in Kerala alone. Suicide deaths in India and in the whole world are in quite huge numbers. Suicide is the result of self defined failure. It is the sum total of aimlessness. Suicide is the terminal point of desperation.  As per available information 12,988 persons committed suicide since May 2016 due to various reasons. Out of this 2,946 were women and 401 children. As many as 822 persons committed suicide due to financial reasons, 4,178 due to family problems, 28 because of mounting debts and 2,325 due to health problems. Experts said 'behavioural addiction' is prevalent among those showing a tendency to commit suicide. Addiction to internet, mobile phones, social media, p

CUT OFF ECONOMIC RELATIONS WITH CHINA

Image
For  the past couple of years India's trade deficit with China is over 50 billion USD per year. We must now seriously think whether we should continue to have trade with China. Imports of all Chinese goods and services should be stopped forth with. We must also start producing those goods which are dumped in the world over by China. Since most of such goods are of low quality, it is easy for us to replace China in the world market, if we can maintain a high quality and a low price. The greedy mindset of the Chinese government has already brought a bad image for them in almost all countries. Further to these the Covid19 game played by them have  created hatred of a good number of countries. We must rise to the occasion and do what is needed. China can never be a trustworthy neighbour for us. They may stab at our back any time. We should extend all assistance to Taiwan, Vietnam and the people of Hong Kong. We must also bring Japan, South Korea, Brunei and Philippines to t

CHINESE SILK ROUTE AND OTHER OFFENSIVE GAMES

Image
China's silk route through POK is not with mere commercial interests. It is like a strangle hold for India. There are provision to extend this highway to Nepal and Bangladesh. On completion of this road China will have a wider access to India through Nepal. Chinese can now use the Chittagong port of Bangladesh. Further to these China Merchant Port Holdings have entered a 99 years lease agreement in 2017 with Sri Lanka Port Authority for the use of Hambantota Port. China has made huge investments in Maldives on infrastructure and other development works. This investment is nothing but a debt trap to tie Maldives with China. Pakistan is already brought under the command of China. The religion governed country is now dancing to the tune of the so called communist country. Within a few years Pakistan will be ruled by China. It may not be fair to say that all these happenings around us is our diplomatic failure. However it would be fair to say that Chinese diplomacy has over

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF CHINA

Image
Dear People of China, Namaste! Ni hao! Beloved neighbours! We, the people of India, have unstained love and regards for the people of China. We each other are proud of our age old culture and history. We Indians know much about your Buddhist monk Xuanzang who visited India as traveller during the 7th century. He too had good words for us. It is, therefore, a historical relationship. Friends, unfortunately your government is not so. They maintain an unwanted and unreasoned enmity with us. You had a war with us in 1962. Since then, making wrong claims about our own land within our boarders, your army is fighting with us. Of late, penetrating deep into our land, your people have killed our soldiers. During this fight we have lost the lives of twenty of our beloved soldiers. You too have lost more numbers. What for? Have we done any wrong with you ever? To the best of our knowledge, not. In order to hide your internal issues and your rift with some other countries,

CHINESE ATTACK

Image
What  is being happened at the boarder with China now was written in my blog dated 29th May. Anyone could foresee this. China holds a black face in the international community. Their economic build up too is under threat. Many investors are leaving them and they are likely to enter into India, Thailand or Vietnam. With a wrong perception of occurrence around them, China has taken a nasty decision to counter it by creating terror at our boarders. By doing so China has once again proved that they are the most unreliable neighbour and capricious country in the world. All said and done what is taking place at our boarders is certainly our diplomatic failure too. China has taken Nepal to their fold and trying to make it another Tibet. Bangladesh too is on the same path. China is continuing their dirty games in Sri Lanka and Maldives. Our diplomatic front seems to be watching these as a silent spectator. What Pakistan is doing at Kashmir boarders is under Chinese instigation. Thi

COVID 19, PETROL AND SOMETHING MORE

Image
Oil prices are continuously being increased in India for the past few days. If we ask the oil companies for the reason for these increase they may come up with umpteen of those. Whether it is international crude price hike or exchange fluctuations of Indian currency or any such things, the so called democratic government of India should have invariably ensured that the people have enough money to buy at the enhanced rate. Price hike of fuel is not just confined to the vehicle owners. It has direct or indirect impact on everyone of this country. Prices of almost all commodities and services are increased proportionately or more depending upon the price hike of oil. Could this have avoided for the time being? Petrol prices per litre in Indian rupees in some lowest priced countries are: (as on June 8, 2020) Venezuela            01.52 Iran                        06.46 Sudan                   10.56 Soudi Arabia        16.63 Angola                  20.58 Iraq (33 in list)     47.

COVID 19 AND CONFLICTS ON THE BOARDERS

Image
China  is trying to make use of the situation to their advantage. China is scratching us for quite some time. The crux of the matter is their diplomatic overtaking. They have been playing for long but we remained as a silent spectator. By using our disputes with Pakistan, China has brought them to their fold. India had a traditional relationship with Nepal for a very long time. China could successfully trespass into it and snatched them too to their fold. They have even going to introduce Mandarin into the school syllabus of Nepal. Another Tibet! We seem to have not bothered at all. Similarly Bangladesh is also moving to the Chinese basket. The illegitimate diplomacy of the Chinese are already on the move to play similar games in Sri Lanka and Maldives. Altogether China want to crush India economically and socially. They will not come out to a full fledged war with India. They know the result very well. After such a war the name China will not be found on the world map. Of

YES, WE CAN ERADICATE COVID 19 FROM INDIA IN FIVE WEEKS

Image
Can  we eradicate Covid 19 from India? Yes, we can, that too in a set target of five weeks. What we should do? It will be a massive operation. Before jumping into it we must ensure our resources. If ensured, think twice whether we can pool those with utmost discipline. If we can, the first step to be taken is seperate politics from Covid 19. OK! We are now ready to fight with the virus. Let us then deploy the soldiers fully armed at all vulnerable places. Step 1 Divide the States and UT into 3 categories. 1) High infection 2) Medium infection 3) Low infection. Step 2 In category 1 states, each district may be brought under a medical team comprising of adequate number of doctors and other health personnel with all required equipments, kits etc. This team should be headed by a senior doctor nominated by ICMR. This doctor should be fully empowered to take appropriate actions as and when needed. The whole team should ensure that the entire people of the district are tested and

COVID 19 - INDIA CLIMBING TO THE TOP

Image
Despite a slow start India has now accelerated the pace and reached 4th on the ladder just behind US, Brazil and Russia in the ranking of Covid 19. COVID19 - BEWILDERED US

Image
Covid19 has so far proved to be an unassailable opponent for the highly resourceful US. Surprisingly the two countries stand one and two in the Covid19 cases of WHO reveal the glaring difference in numbers. While the total number of cases reported so far in US is 20,66,634 the numbers of Brazil is less than half, 8,05,649. Similarly the mortality rate of US is 1,15,141 Brazil's number is only 39,803. Medical experts from different countries find that there is something wrong in the way both the countries tackled the spread of the pandemic. The cumulative cases in US are, 15 on February 15, 4609 on March 16, 1,93,999 on March 31, 10,98,526 on April 30, 15,60,268 on May 18, 20,45,549 on June 9 and today the number is, 20,66,634. COVID19 ERADICATED FROM NEW ZEALAND

Image
The whole world stand and salute the Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern for the heroic effort to fight Covid 19 and eradicated from her country. While 214 countries are still fighting with the deadly virus she is the first to come victorious. The population of New Zealand is 50,02,100. Number of cases reported are 1,504 and mortality is 22. Cases per million is 301 and mortality per million is 4. The cumulative number of cases are 0 on February 17, 52 on March 21, 797 on April 2, 1312 on April 11,  1485 on May 2, 1504 on May 26 and 1504 today. No case is reported for the past 17 days. Out 215 countries New Zealand was on 106th spot. Eradication of Covid19 in such a short period is a commendable joint effort by the people and the government. New Zealand is the first country that effectively checked Covid1

COVID19 - DOWNWARD TREND IN JAPAN

Japan Japan is another country that could contain Covid19 fairly well. The population of Japan is 12,64,97,998. Total cases reported as on date is 17,174 and mortality is 916. Tests conducted per million is 2,505. 12 cases reported on 22 February, 34 on 16 March, 318 on April 4, 743 on 12 April, 368 on 21 April, 264 on 2 May, 55 on 14 May, 33 on 1 June and 33 on 8 June is the progress chart. Finally when things were going beyond control emergency was declared in Japan on April 7. Except some essential se

COVID 19 - DOWNWARD TREND IN CHINA

Image
We may have a close look of some countries where Covid have spread widely and took the lives of huge number of people. Until now coronavirus have infected about 72,00,364 people killing 4,08,744 in 215 countries across the world. While in some countries the figures are going upwards in a few other the trend is downwards. We will see China now. China Covid 19   first appeared in Wuhan, China in early December 2019.  Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province of Central China with a population over 11 million. Out of 83,040 cases and 4,634 deaths reported in China, 68,135 cases and 4512 deaths are from Hubei province alone. It shows that they could contain the pandemic most effectively. On 12th of March the total cases reported in China was 80,813. On 6th of June the figure went up to only 83,030. The total number of deaths as on January 22 was 17. It shot up to 3,270 on March 22,  4,632 on April 22, 4634 on May 22 and remain at 4634 on June 6. What they did was not anything magi

COVID 19 - DOWNWARD TREND IN ITALY

Image
Italy The whole world was baffled over the high rise of Covid 19 in Italy. 2,34,998 cases and 33,899 deaths are reported from Italy as on date. The first case of coronavirus was reported on 31 January 2020. The pandemic is suspected to have brought in there by the Chinese immigrants. While the Italian population stands at 6,04,67,085, the total number of Chinese immigrants are 3,20,794. These figures excluded those secured Italian nationality and those born there. From the first reported case on 31 January, it shot upto 71 on 23 February and 6557 on 21 March. As a result of all possible measures taken by the Italian government the figures came down to 2357 on 25 April, 1402 on 12 May and 270 on 6 June. On 26 February the total Covid 19 death reported was 1. This went upto 349 on 16 March, 601 on 23 March and 919 the highest on 27 March. The mortality figure came down to 837 on 31 March, 525 on 16 April, 382 on 28 April, 474 on 2 May, 274 on 7 May, 145 on 17 May, 117 on 27 M

COVID 19 - PLACES OF WORSHIP COULD HAVE KEPT CLOSED FOR SOME MORE TIME

Image
Opening  of the places of worship seems to be a hurried decision. It is a joint decision taken by the central government, state government, political parties and almost all religious leaders. Whoever may be behind the decision, they have not given due consideration about the prevailing rate of upward numbers of Covid cases in the country as well as in the states. When the first lock down was declared on 24th March there were about 500 coronavirus cases in India and 105 in Kerala. Now, when the figures have reached 2,46,622 infections and 6,946 deaths in India and 1807 cases and 15 deaths in Kerala, lifting of the lock down appears to be a inconsistent one. It is rather a political decision than a religious demand. Those who want to retain the power, those want to get back the power and all those who want to get into the power have jointly taken this decision. The so called faithful followers of every religion too wanted to tie down God in these buildings of worship. They co

MOST HEINOUS ACT

Image
Culture, civilization, tradition, education, literacy etc are the common denotation used to indicate the quality or virtue of a society. We Keralites are very proud  to proclaim this time and again. Every one of us say about our highest standard of literacy in our country in every conversation. Whatever colours we use to paint us in front of the world can be covered with one spray of black paint. And that black paint is our most arrogant and shameful behaviour with women. The men of Kerala are living in an imaginary world of sex. They think that any cruelty, immorality, brutal or rogue act against women is justifiable. Time and again we come across with such inhuman sexual activities by Kerala men. The latest of such things that has been brought out by the media about a man throwing his wife to some dirty human animals in the southern part of Kerala. The husband gave his wife to friends for a price and all under intoxication do the most heinous act in front of the four year

COVID19 - WE CAN SET A TARGET: ZERO CASE IN THREE MONTHS

Image
Can we find an end to Covid19 in any Indian state?  Yes, it must be possible. We may initially take states where infection of Covid19 is around one thousand and mortality is below 50. Nothing magical to be done. Set a target of three months. Let the government announce this, subject to availability of adequate fund. Strict command should reach the people. We should also not forget the fact that once the number of patients crossed the balancing figure, it would be like driving a car with no steering wheel and no brake. There will not be sufficient testing kits, beds will be heavily in short in the hospital and finally there will not be hospital at all to accommodate patients. As such this would be the ideal time to put all efforts together to prevent and remove the deadly pandemic for ever. Before proceeding to eradicate Covid 19 we must learn the fundamental theory. Identify and isolate the patient. Make everything strict. Everyone should use mask, frequent hands sanitizati

FIVE INDIAN STATES LEADING ECONOMIC RECOVERY

Image
Five Indian states contributing nearly 27% of the country's GDP are leading a recovery in the economy as it slowly emerges from the world's biggest lockdown, a study by Elara Securities Inc. shows. Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Karnataka have seen a pick up in activity, based on an analysis of indicators such as power consumption, traffic movement, arrival of farm products at wholesale markets and Google mobility data, Garima Kapoor, an economist at Elara Securities in Mumbai, wrote in a note. EDUCATION, A MASSIVE UPROOT

Image
(How the education will be in 2030s) Consequent upon continuous evolution educational system reached the current form. In India, during the Vedic era, we had Gurukuls. This was the earliest form of public school. Residential in nature, the students lived with the teacher in the same house irrespective of their social standings. No fee was payable to the teacher, but were funded by public donations. The students were to help the teacher in his day to day life including washing cloths, cooking etc.Gurukuls like Sree Swamy Narayana Gurukul, ISKON Gurukulas are still existing in India.. In ancient Greece, during Hellenistic period, only wealthy families could afford a teacher. The students learned to read, write, sing, play a musical instrument and were also given athletic training for military service. N ow, starting from Kindergarten or Montessori school of thoughts education is specialised to the core on culmination. Nothing left for further bifurcation in most branches.

COVID19 - UTILIZE THOSE RETURNED FROM ABROAD

Image
Most of the people returned to Kerala from different countries are likely to stay back here for quite long. They don't need free food or any petty monetary help. Some are professionally qualified, some highly skilled and some others are well experienced in their trade. We can use them for the economic growth of the state. What is needed is a leadership. People who have  wider perspective of the developing world may come to the forefront and show them ways and means to establish themselves. The right guidence will help them to earn for themselves and for the state. What to do, where to do and how to pool the resources should be shown to them. They will give excellent return to the state. The government may leave the conventional methods of revenue generation by squeezing the people. There are more ways for more growth. Just use properly what is available with us in plenty. See the people returned as added resource. KV George kvgeorgein@gmail.com
