COVID19 - "PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE"

Despite all said and done Covid19 is climbing up the ladder in India at fairly good pace. If we do not take appropriate corrective measures immediately things may be beyond our control. As on date India has reached the 10th spot among the Covid19 affected countries in the world with the number of patients at  1,51,767 and  mortality at  4,337 .The very first thing we have to do is to disconnect politics from Covid19. Then let the people know what is the real Covid19 status in our country and what is happening around them. Let everyone in this country know that if people do not follow the directives of the central and state governments things are going to be extremely precarious for them.

If the government give proper guidance to the people and ensure that those are being strictly followed this dangerous pandemic can be prevented effectively. Another thing is about Lock Down. Wherever a specific number of suspicious cases are found, such area should be brought under strict Lock Down immediately. People individually or in vehicles should neither be allowed to move out or get into this restricted area for the given period of time. Also buses plying through this region should not be allowed to stop there. If free movement of people can be strictly restricted the spread of this virus can be effectively checked.

We may look at Vietnam which has a population of 97 million has only 327 cases of Covid 19 reported so far and the mortality remain zero until now. Similarly preventive measures taken by countries like Taiwan, Hong kong, New Zealand etc have shown appreciable results.

Among the states and UTs of India the following could contain the pandemic exceedingly well.
(These figures are as on 25.05.2020)
States/UT     Nos              Mortality
                       infected
Nagaland             0                  0
Daman Diu           0                  0
Arunachal            1                  0
Sikkim                  1                  0                Mizoram              1                  0
Meghalaya         14                 1
Manipur              34                 0
Puducherry         41                1
Ladakh                49                0
Goa                      66                0
Kerala                945                6
Still there are some more states where reported cases are less than Kerala.

As per the latest updates Covid19 cases reported in India is 1,51,767 and mortality reported is 4337. When we discuss about prevention, it needs serious attention that 75.68% of the total infection and 80.79% of total mortality is reported from six states. Those are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. This can be attributed to be the failure of the respective administration of each state. However, there may be a number of reasons to point out for this situation. That may include lack of cooperation by the people, shortage of health personnel, shortage of PPE kits, test facilities, hospitals, quarantine facilities and many such things. The state governments should have made good of these short comings well in time. The central government should also have closely monitored the states.
