Jackfruit is not a regional fruit. It is growing worldwide. It is a big fruit with weight ranges between 10 - 25 kgs. It is rich in nutrients and contains carbohydrates, vitamins, proteins, minerals and phytochemicals. Having composition of shredded meat in it, jackfruit is taken as a substitute for vegetarians. The nutrients contained in jackfruit have  crucial roles in energy production, immunity and chronic inflammation  leading to conditions like type2 diabetes and heart diseases. The compounds and nutrients in jackfruit influence to control the blood sugar positively. Jackfruit powder is now widely used to control blood sugar levels.

Kerala has an estimated production of about 29 cores jackfruit in a season now. It may come about 6 million tonnes. Alongwith this information we may also go through another data that shows, Kerala has about 45 lakhs educated unemployed youth including 5 lakhs women who lost their jobs. Our government who should find means to resolve this issue are concentrating more on political issues and allied issues related to governor, V.C., K Rail etc. They have neither adequate fund nor time to deploy the unemployed people.

If these 6 million tonnes of jackfruit can be converted into suitable powder or paste and make wide propoganda across the world it may  become a largely sought export commodity. Many of these unemployed can make an earning thereby. In turn the government may also have a proportionate revenue. Government need not spend any money for this. They only need to organise things and give proper guidance to the youth. Unless we do such innovative things as time demands, playing politics alone cannot do magic to bring money to the exchequer.
