CAN INDIA PROVIDE FREE EDUCATION UPTO GRADUATION LEVEL

According to a report in Malayala Manorama dared 18th Jan 24, 25 percent Indians in the age group of 14-18 years cannot read their respective  study books in their own mother tongue. Alongwith this 42.7 per cent of them cannot read English sentences. This is said to be brought out by Status of Educational Report by 'Pratham'. Further to this a good number of children leave education within the age group of 14-18 years. 3.9 percent children say goodbye to education at the age of 14, 10.9 percent at the age of 16 and 32.6 percent at the age of 18. As per the census report of 2011, only 4.5 percent of the population has completed graduation. A majority of 32.6 percent of the population has not studied upto primary level education. India's literacy standard is rated as 75%. I do not know under what assumptions this figure has been arrived at. It is also found that with 34 percent of illiterate population, India has the largest illiterate population in the world.

According to a report of 9 November 2004 by The Times of India, India ranked 106 out of 127 countries as per the Global Education Report consisting the data's during the period 2001-2005. It must be a fact that the successive governments of country must have encouraged illiteracy on political reasons. May I request the Central Government to provide free education upto the level of graduation. This should make the country of 100 percent literates. All state governments may join with the central government for achieving this. If the following can be taken care the money for this can be managed. 1) Maintain political discipline throughout the country. 2) Bring down all unwanted expenditure. 3) Eradicate corruption from the country. 4) Utilise all avenues and ensure zero rate of unemployment.
