HUGE DEPOSITS OF INDIAN MONEY

For quite sometime people here and there are saying about huge deposits of Indian money in foreign banks. Most vehement voice about this was heard from the incumbent Prime Minister before his occupation of the chair. After becoming the PM the voice became feeble and feeble. Now there is almost a silence in this money matter. However, it is not the PM alone to keep himself busy in this matter always. There are many others like the Finance Minister, his deputies, a huge fleet of secretaries, the RBI governor, a good number of inquiry agencies and above all there 790 members representing the people of India can spend some time, at least once in a while, to look into this huge deposits. Of course, they all may be looking into it with utmost secrecy.

Even though the media is using words like huge, large, enormous etc to indicate the sum, so far no one has said so many rupees and so many paise is the deposit. Of late it came out from some source that the total money deposited in foreign banks by Indians in clandestine manners amounts to an equivalent sum of 13 times of India's external debts. When such huge money is available why the Finance Minister prefers to impose unbearable taxes upon the poor people. Why don't he tries to bring down the petrol price below Rs 40/- a liter. It may be a huge relief to the rich and poor.

Instead of encouraging the people to imagine the names of all rich people as these account holders the government can tell their names. Tomorrow they may become the richest in the world, scraping the names of Bill Gates and company.

The politicians need not be afraid of revealing this secret. The people will not unseat you. The poor will forgive all the rich and also they will forget this in no time because they do not know how to count such huge sum.
