WHAT IS SIN IN CHRISTIAN FAITH?

Sin is considered to be the transgression against the divine law or the law of Moses. The whole law is listed in as Ten Commandments and this set of law is the fundamental law of Christianity. Jesus Christ Himself have told that these law shall remain for ever and nothing will disappear from the  law until everything  is accomplished. Before the establishment  of the law of Moses, God had punished  the sinners en masse in Sodom Gomorrah and by the deluge at the time of Noah. Men were asked to repent on their deeds and offer sacrifices to please God. Since none of these acts could prevent sin on earth, finally, God Himself have taken birth in this world as man in the name, Jesus Christ. Jesus have taken up punishment for and on behalf of entire humanity and thereby everyone is set free from certain punishment. Instead of birds and animals the Son of Man Himself have sacrificed on the cross at Golgotha. This is the only unblemished sacrifice offered to God ever. Though this sacrifice w

POLITICAL DONATIONS

Acco rding to data collected by Association for Democratic Reforms and published by Times of India sometimes back BJP has increased its share, cornering over 55% of all funding from donations compared to 51% in the previous year. Huge amount of these donations are shown as "unknown sources" of income. There are two aspects concerned with the common man in this. One is that most of the major donors are business people. They do not shell out huge sums for a fun. They certainly expect multiple returns. These returns are generally come through illegitimate means and this is the fundamental issue of corruption. Many eminent personalities have expressed this time and again. Another aspect is that most of this receipt is shown as undisclosed income. This is nothing but to avoid income tax. The party that is the chief participant of the ruling government should be the model for the people in observation of the law. Here it is the fence that eat the crops. They themselves evading th

POLITICAL VIEW

Large segment of the world population live in a political world created by a handful of politicians within their limited knowledge. What to eat and what not to eat by the common man is a political choice. How to wear, how to behave, how to live, how to look and how to talk are under the direction of politicians. Common man are made to believe that politicians are their creation and the whip is in their hands, but common man cannot liberally act; can only choose from a very few. Anyone may ask, 'why should we surrender ourselves to these politicians who are proved to be not competent to rule us.'  None of us, however, may respond to this in public. The reason for our silence must be the mythical belief we have that we are a big power fully armed to bring up or throw away these politicians at will. Let us reiterate the fact that people have now power in the existing form of democracy other than to choose one rotten thing from too small a lot. Once chosen they grow into enormous

LOVE AND LOVE

Love is one of the most used words in the world.  Each one of us have our own interpretation of the word. In fact we all use it to our convenience. While using this word either in spoken language or written language we prefer to remain incognito. We are certainly not using this word according to the stipulated meaning. As per the standard dictionary, love means, a strong feeling of affection. We may be within the purview of the meaning given but it can be either positive or negative feelings. In fact the expression of love by animals are natural and genuine whereas human love contains full of deception. God is love! What the little bit of love we have is the gift of God. Most of us never try to add to what is given to us. Either we may retain it as it is or leave it away in course of the hard life. If we happen to see anyone full of love, it is certain that the element of God in such people are very high. For instance, Mother Teresa was one with divine love. She was a human filled wi

WHY COMMUNIST PARTY FAILED TO TAKE ROOT IN INDIA

Communist party planted its first seed in India on 26th Dec 1925. India was the most fertile land for the party to grow and spread widely. According to available information the literacy rate during this period was much below 10%. Poverty was at its peak. According to the first census of 1951 the population of the free India was slightly above 36 crores. In 1925 it was less than this and majority of them were like slaves under the British and with the Zamindars of India. The Indian people of those time were not preloaded with any political ideology. An ideal atmosphere for the communist party to take roots. Even in their wildest dreams they cannot find a better time to spread the wings, but the party utterly failed here. In the current Lok Sabha the CPI has 1 member and CPIM 9. All their so called theories, meetings, rallies, bundh, gherao and many other display of resistance could fetch them nothing but a total fiasco. The party has failed to understand the people of India. They hav

UNDERSTANDING AND MISUNDERSTANDING

There are many people wailing quite frequently that they are not understood by others. Some others curse themselves for they are misunderstood by others. The parents say they are not understood by their children and vice versa. Some teachers feel they are misunderstood by their students and vice versa. The husband finds that he is not properly understood by the wife and vice versa. What is the difference between understanding and misunderstanding? In fact, both have vague meaning. What is called a 'perfect understanding' today can be a misunderstanding tomorrow, and the other way round. In most cases, we select a friend or one become our friend, may be, rather certainly, out of misunderstanding. If we can read the minds of our friends, we shall not have any friends at all. Almost all disputes between individuals, families, societies or nations take place out of misunderstanding. We do not understand others because we cannot understand them.  If someone express love towards

PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS AND THE PUBLIC

Banks are intermediary financial establishments between the government and the people. Banks normally do not have to do anything of their own. They must strictly adhere to the socioeconomic policies of the government in close association. While all the policies formed by the government are for the betterment of the people, banks should ensure that all decisions and actions taken by them too are in the same direction. The primary target of a government in a country like India should be to bridge the gap between the poor and not so poor. Banks can play a significant role in this direction. Of late we find that the banks, especially those owned by the government, are taking many negative steps. These banks have become pure commercial establishments vying with one another to squeeze the people of the country. State Bank of India, the premier bank of the country, is undoubtedly doing the maximum harassment to the common man. Consequent upon the merger of five associate banks and Bharathiy

REVAMP EDUCATIONAL SYLLABUS IN SCHOOLS

If we look for a brighter tomorrow we must focus the minds of our coming generation to that brightness. They must be allowed to learn the problems confronted by their parents and grandparents parents. Once they are told about the problems, they will come up with their own solutions. Alternatively we too must suggest them about our own tried and failed solutions too. We must first pick up the serious issues faced by the Indian society. Undoubtedly the top in the list will be corruption all around. The next one must be political excessiveness in every walk of human life. Then comes the all important matter; safety of women. The last in the list for the time being is narcotics. If these four subjects are included in our school syllabus from class four to class twelve with appropriate gravity in each classes, we shall certainly find the results in the coming years. If we can get over these grave problems of our society, India will be one of the most ideal countries in the world to live in

WHAT IS DEVIL IN CHRISTIAN FAITH

Devil is well anchored in Christianity. Every Christian who knows God knows devil too. No one claim to have seen either God or devil, but many say that they could feel the presence of each one of them sometimes during their life. Devil is considered as a fallen angel who rebelled against the Most Holy One. Subsequently this angel is believed to have expelled from heaven and sent to this world. The devil or Satan represents all evil on earth. According to the holy scriptures the devil makes its first appearance in the Eden Gardens. In the New Testament, under different contexts, the name 'devil' appears 32 times. Christianity teaches that everything in the universe is created by God, while the Almighty Himself was there at the beginning of time. John 1:3 says, "It was through him that all things came into being, and without him came nothing that has come to be." When God have created everything, devil too is the creation of God Himself. God have created everything w

POLITICS IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

The High Court of Kerala in an interim verdict, ordered to end campus politics in all educational institutions in Kerala. The court ruled that the students are coming to educational institutions for studying and not for indulging in political activities there. The management should have authority to throw out students who spoil the peaceful atmosphere in the educational institutions, the court observed. While a great majority of the people including the students and their parents shall support to the observation of the honorable court, a lean minority from various political parties strongly refute this. Schools and colleges are the highly fertile land for the politicians to bring up the future followers for them. In order to strengthen their demands to keep the educational institutions open for all sorts of strife they put up certain irrelevant arguments. The most important of these is, they say, that schools and colleges are the places where parliamentary democracy is to be taught a

GOOD EARNINGS FOR RETIRED PEOPLE

Retired people need not sit idle at home. They can work as much time as they can. No office. No boss. No staff. No fixed working time. No leave. No holidays. And above all, no investment. If you have fairly good health, it is fine. You can work from anywhere in the world. All you need is a mobile phone with net connection. Your capital outlay will be your knowledge. If you have knowledge and experience in some particular field, just focus on it. How to organise. Pick up around five retired people from your circle. If you are looking for five people, see that they are from five different backgrounds like engineering, finance, banking, trading, manufacturing sector etc. Once the team mates are identified, have a conference over phone and introduce in between you. If all are from close by region you can also have meeting at the nearest park, restaurant or any other suitable place. If you want to exchange proof of identify between yourselves, you can have it. Decide then what type of an

CAN WE ELIMINATE PLASTIC ?

On the one hand plastic is one of the most useful manufactured material in the world. On the other hand it is one of the most harmful material on earth. People world over use plastic for a wide variety of applications. People prefer plastic material for its lower cost, multi utility, water resistance and convenience. Plastic has an enormous growth in a short span of time. Plastic production in 1950 was 1.5 million tonnes. It rose to 200 in 2002 and 322 million tonnes in 2015. Global consumption of plastic is 45 kg/person. Highest is in NAFTA region with 139 kg/person and the lowest is in Middle East and Africa with 16 kg/person. An unimaginable quantity of 9 billion tonnes of plastic have been produced after 1950. 30% of total production is still in use. Only about 9% are recycled. About 7 million tonnes of plastic are available in the whole world now as waste in different forms. According to researchers an estimated quantity of 8 million tonnes end up in ocean every year. 60% of to

FOOD SUPPLEMENTS

There are a good number of food supplements in India doing excellent business. Their main reach to the prospective customers are through print and visual media. They give tall promises using influential models. While some promise 300% build up in stamina, some others' promise is intelligence growth. They also claim that children who use this daily shall become taller. In ordinary situations no consumer can ensure whether the promises made by the manufacturers are true. Presumably there is no scientific evidence to verify. Under this circumstances it is the inevitable duty of both state and central governments to ensure that the promises given by the concerned manufacturers stand good and the consumers are not cheated. Huge revenue from advertisements by these manufacturers, obviously, keep media silent in this matter. If the concerned government officials too become inactive, it is no one else but the consumers themselves, should take up the matter at appropriate level, including

CREATED ROAD ACCIDENTS

Over 4,000 people lost their lives and around 50,000 people injured seriously on Kerala roads in 2016. These figures are rapidly accelerating year after year. No effective steps have been taken by the government to check this alarming rate of road accidents. In the Tsunami of 2004 the death toll in the state of Kerala was below 200. All available government machineries were activated well in time to deal with the situation. That was, of course, a natural calamity, but death is death, that too when it is unnatural death. There are many reasons for road accidents like poor road conditions, over speed of vehicles, driving under intoxication, negligent driving etc. These are general causes for accidents. However, there are created causes too that take human lives on roads. Most important among these is the created traffic block. Political organisations, trade unions, temples, churches, mosques and all other social organisations bring their people to the road to display their strength. I

TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT IN KERALA

Since 1947 both central and state governments have offered a number of developmental projects to bring up the quality of life of the Scheduled Tribes. Unfortunately it remains to be in a deplorable state in the whole country. The state of Kerala too is not an exception. When we compare the quality of life of the tribal population with the people from the mainstream of the society one can easily notice that the gap is widening from decade to decade. Whether in the case of housing or health or education or in other basic human needs most of the people are in a very pathetic condition. The state of Kerala as a whole can be ranked with developed countries in education, health, life expectancy, basic amenities, quality of food etc. Contrary to these achievements of those in the mainstream our brethren from the tribal population are leading a life par below. We, from the higher strata of the society, are bound to help them liberally. According to the available information Kerala has over o

DISPARITY IN CATHOLIC CEMETERY

"Leave the dead to bury their dead; it is for thee to go out and proclaim God's kingdom." (Luke 9:60) Jesus Christ tells that there is nothing in the remnant of the human body after the departure of life from it. It is worth for nothing, so the dead will bury their dead. Galatians 3:28 further clarifies equality in Christianity. "No more Jew or Gentile, no more slave and free man, no more male and female;  you are all one person in Jesus Christ." Both these verses from the Holy Book denote Christian out look on man, either living or dead. However, this equality cannot be maintained anywhere in the world by any religion. The big and the small are appropriately placed, therefore, in Christianity too. It becomes extreme when this disparity is dragged to the cemetery after death. The dead body of the rich is placed in a rich tomb and the poor in a poor tomb. The rich tomb is decorated with precious marbles while the body of the poor is heaped with earth. The pl

TAXING THE PEOPLE OF INDIA

Collec tion of taxes from the people is not a modern introduction by the governments. During the period of Pharaohs in Egypt there were tax collectors called scribes. They were also visiting houses to ensure that taxed items were used by all people. There were custom duties for goods imported and exported during the time of Augustus Caesar in Rome. We can find taxation in the history of almost all nations. In India people used to pay taxes to the ruling kings in the form of agricultural products. In the modern history of India King Akbar abolished many forms of taxes to give relief to the people. However during the post independent era of our country the state and central governments are vying with each other to tax the people the maximum possible. According to the current union budget the sum expected from tax revenue is over 19 lakh crores. This tax money is not paid by the people with love or happiness or contentment. It is rather squeezed out from the people. Though the tax paymen

OIL PRICES IN INDIA

There is something seriously wrong in price fixing of oil in India. Oil being the fundamental component that determines the prices of all other goods and services the central government must have a relook on the matter. From the available resources I am placing the diesel prices in some selected countries on 28 Aug 2017 in US $ Iran 0.9, Saudi Arabia 0.12, Myanmar 0.49, Malaysia 0.49, Vietnam 0.61, Sri Lanka 0.62, Afghanistan 0.64, USA 0.67, Indonesia 0.68, Nepal 0.72, Pakistan 0.74, Thailand 0.75, Bhutan 0.88, China 0.88 and INDIA 0.93. (Since I am wholly depending upon the source through which these prices are collected I do not vouch for total accuracy. You may verify and confirm the actual prices) It can be seen from these figures that our price is much on the higher side than almost all Asian countries. Each one of you may add up the components of cost as you can in the following manner. Purchase price of crude + Shipping charges to Indian ports + Handling charges + Refinery

DEMONETISATION - A RIDDLE

The BJP government at the centre suddenly announced the withdrawal of currency notes of ₹ 1000 and ₹ 500 denominations from circulation. 15.28 lakhs worth such notes were disappeared from circulation. People all over the country faced huge inconveniences. The Prime Minister and Finance Mister kept telling the people that this action was for a good purpose, the betterment of the economy, the progress of the nation and so on. Now the Finance Minister says that 99% of the withdrawn money has come back to the government. In the remaining 1%,  the return from the cooperative banks and from Nepal are to be accounted for. The left over will be, therefore, much less than 1%. It now remains to be a myth or a riddle for the people, as to what was the purpose of the demonetisation. Even those who are in the financial field are baffling in the matter. The people are interpreting this midnight operation in different ways. Some think this was done to favour some selected business men. Some others t

MEDICAL EDUCATION IN TEARS

EVERY year at the time of new admissions in medical and engineering colleges one can find all sorts of muddle and confusion all over. These are being watched people of Kerala for quite sometime irrespective of the governments in power. Every time it is a bargain for money. The rich business men who run the colleges want huge profits. Parents of the brilliant poor students cannot afford this money. The rich parents of the 'no so brilliant students' are willing to pay this money. Representatives of the 'medical business' colleges of the neighbouring states deploy agents on commission basis throughout the state to canvas prospective students. Politicians of all brands grazing in the green pastures. The governments, one after the other, watching the whole show silently. Every year we hear big political speeches in this matter. News papers spend scores of columns to report the case and to suggest ways and means to overcome the issue. TV channels conduct special debates invo

HONESTY OF GOVERNMENTS

GOVERNMENTS belong to the people. People send their representatives to run the governments. Those who are in the governments are expected to disclose the facts to the people as and when needed. The governments should not hide anything from the people unless warranted by extremely precarious situations. Under no circumstances the governments should lie to the people. Of late it has been noticed that our governments in India are deceiving the people by sheer false statements. I would like to believe that the good intention and honest statements have been purported by the ignorant people. However I leave it to the people to ascertain the purpose behind these statements by the representatives of the governments. Certain sample cases are presented below. 1) The government asked the people to get Aadhar cards immediately. These cards are essential to draw the subsidy from the banks for cooking gas, we were told. When almost all have got the cards the government have announced that the s

GST - ONE COUNTRY ONE TAX !!!

One country one tax is the prime motto of GST. The central government says that they are removing all other taxes and replacing those with the GST. This statement itself is wrong as excise duty, sales tax, vat, service tax, cess etc are still being continued. One country one tax statement too does not stand good as state and central governments are free to impose cess as and when they like.  Another irregularity is in pickimg items brought under the GST. Petrol, diesel, liquor etc are exempted from the purview of GST as huge taxes are already imposed on those. The government before the introduction of this novel tax form, proclaimed through the media that almost all commodities shall be available at lesser prices in the market. Finally when introduced, scarsely could find any item with a lower price. In fact GST as a whole has raised the prices as far as common man is concerned. The most significant question about GST is, whether this tax reformation is for the Indians as a whole or

SILENT VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

Government of Kerala seems to be adamant to exploit the Silent Valley National Park in the name of hydro electric projects. Silent Valley with an area of 236.74 sq km situated in the Nilgiri hills in Palakkad dist of Kerala is one of the richest in the world for it's bio diversities. It is the nature's gift to our great nation. Every human in the God's own country should be proud of it. Silent Valley is an unfathomable stretch of flora and founa comparing with any such regions in the world. There are 730 varieties of identified species dwell in this park. Large varieties of butterflies which are not normally found in other parts of the world are spotted here. There are 16 species of birds which are on the verge of extinction are housed here. There are also large species of mammals which too are under the threat of extinction put up in this God's Valley. This is also the home for large population of endangered species lion tailed macaques. The park is also a home for c

HUGE DEPOSITS OF INDIAN MONEY

For quite sometime people here and there are saying about huge deposits of Indian money in foreign banks. Most vehement voice about this was heard from the incumbent Prime Minister before his occupation of the chair. After becoming the PM the voice became feeble and feeble. Now there is almost a silence in this money matter. However, it is not the PM alone to keep himself busy in this matter always. There are many others like the Finance Minister, his deputies, a huge fleet of secretaries, the RBI governor, a good number of inquiry agencies and above all there 790 members representing the people of India can spend some time, at least once in a while, to look into this huge deposits. Of course, they all may be looking into it with utmost secrecy. Even though the media is using words like huge, large, enormous etc to indicate the sum, so far no one has said so many rupees and so many paise is the deposit. Of late it came out from some source that the total money deposited in foreign ba

VAST POTENTIAL FOR WATER TRANSPORT IN KERALA

Kerala has vast untapped water resources which can be effectively used as an alternative for road transport. We have about 1500 kilo meters of inland water ways. Almost the entire length of Kerala can be used as high density water channel for the movement of goods and passengers. Optimum utilization of this natural gift can bring down the density of traffic on the roads. Over 4000 human beings are falling dead and over 50,000 are injured on our roads every year. This can be checked at least to some extent. We should make multi pronged efforts to achieve the projected  distance from Kovalam to Bakel (Kasergod). Primarily the missing links must be connected on top most priority. The weeds must be removed and dredging should be arranged to maintain the required depth. However, the most important is to make available large numbers of boats for various purposes. Wide bottom boats which have less chances of accidents must be preferred. We should have 4 seater, 10/12 seater, 30/40 seater and

EMOLUMENTS OF PARLIAMENTARIANS IN INDIA

We Indians are so rich and so liberal. Our servants decide their wages and draw at will. Our representatives in the parliament are considered as our servants. (I do not know whether they agree with this or not.) If things move as usual our MPs shall draw this year a whopping sum of RS 2,80,000/- as monthly emoluments and Rs 4,000/- as daily allowance. We are usually finding the Members of Parliament fight each other and make all possible ugly scenes when they discuss something pertains to the people, but they are amazingly united when they discuss about their salary and perks. As per the existing economic standard of our people, we shall try to place them in any of the following categories, if they fit in. As per available information the monthly income of the various categories of people in 2016 are as below (in RS). EWS                      16,000 and below LIG                         16,001 to 40,000 MIG                        40,001 to 70,000 HIG                         70,00

DAY LIGHT ROBBERIES BY THE RICH

A cc ording to media reports the public sector banks have written off about 2.5 lakh crores rupees from the year 2012-13 to 2016-17. The defaulters rather beneficiaries of the bank are among the richest in the country. As per available information they include Reliance, Adani, Vedanta,  Essar, Jaypee, JSW, GMR, Lanco, GVK group of companies etc. This huge sum does not belong to any political parties, finance ministers or bank managers but to the common man of India right from the beggars, daily wage earners, petty traders, poor farmers and so on. All these companies must have enough assets in one way or the other. Instead of attaching such assets the banks preferred, may be under the instructions by the top guns from the ruling parties from time to time, to write off this huge sum. In order to recoup the money gifted to the rich of the country, the banks started looting the common man under the names service charges, hiking the lending rates, bringing down the interest for deposit and

SUCCESS AND FAILURE

A ccor ding to dictionary the meaning of the word 'success' is 'The accomplishment of an aim or purpose.' The aim and purpose have no restrictions; can be anything. However, when we say that someone is a successful person, we wish to add that he is a man of good deeds. While traveling through time, people and places, we can find that the meaning changes and can even contradict. Success of an individual can be the failure of the society. Success of a thief is the failure of the police. History has praised many as successful human. Alexander the Great is called a successful emperor. But, the scale by which Alexander's success was measured yesterday is not the one used today. What was the great emperor's success? He had slaughtered countless number of human beings and destroyed many countries built over centuries. In today's terms he had committed dacoities and murders. During different periods of time Roman emperor Nero, Adolf Hitler, Osama bin Laden and th

POLITICAL EXPERTISE

How to evaluate the leadership caliber of a politician? We shall look at the three top guns of Kerala. He is very good at leading the government, but poor to lead the party; Sri Oommen Chandy. He has commendable success in leading the party, but miserably failed in leading the government; Sri Pinarai Vijayan. He was a sincere and loyal party  worker, but a very poor party leader; Sri Kummanam Raja Shekaran. All the three are beyond rectification, but their respective parties are willingly accepting them. That is political expertise. KV George
