REVAMP EDUCATIONAL SYLLABUS IN SCHOOLS
If we look for a brighter tomorrow we must focus the minds of our coming generation to that brightness. They must be allowed to learn the problems confronted by their parents and grandparents parents. Once they are told about the problems, they will come up with their own solutions. Alternatively we too must suggest them about our own tried and failed solutions too.
We must first pick up the serious issues faced by the Indian society. Undoubtedly the top in the list will be corruption all around. The next one must be political excessiveness in every walk of human life. Then comes the all important matter; safety of women. The last in the list for the time being is narcotics. If these four subjects are included in our school syllabus from class four to class twelve with appropriate gravity in each classes, we shall certainly find the results in the coming years. If we can get over these grave problems of our society, India will be one of the most ideal countries in the world to live in. The whole world will have envy on us.
This transformation may not be as tough as we elders have experienced. It would be easier for todays children to mould tomorrow's society. Now, the question would be, who should bell the cat. The state of Kerala could open many new avenues in the field of education. Kerala can, therefore, take the first step towards this.
The government should nominate a new curriculum committee consisting of scholars from various walks of life. The committee must be empowered to scrap any lessons from any classes. They must invite lessons on our four subjects from experts. These writings must be scanned by the committee and made at the required standard of each classes. The same subjects may be presented through various angles with the support of adequate data and convincing language in successive classes. Necessary comparison may be drawn from Indian history and also wherever required from world history too. However, alongwith teaching the new subjects another subject may essentially be added to this to make the children simple human beings. Otherwise, none of the new theories shall be fit into their minds. In order to make the attempt more effective the teachers should be provided with formal training in these revised reaching and also necessary guide lines must be issued for their timely reference. All these matters should be strictly within the purview of the curriculum committee. The committee should continue for ever but the terms of service of each member should not exceed five years.
If this can be effectively implemented and systematically managed we may have amazing results in a short span of time.
