WHY COMMUNIST PARTY FAILED TO TAKE ROOT IN INDIA

Communist party planted its first seed in India on 26th Dec 1925. India was the most fertile land for the party to grow and spread widely. According to available information the literacy rate during this period was much below 10%. Poverty was at its peak. According to the first census of 1951 the population of the free India was slightly above 36 crores. In 1925 it was less than this and majority of them were like slaves under the British and with the Zamindars of India. The Indian people of those time were not preloaded with any political ideology. An ideal atmosphere for the communist party to take roots. Even in their wildest dreams they cannot find a better time to spread the wings, but the party utterly failed here. In the current Lok Sabha the CPI has 1 member and CPIM 9. All their so called theories, meetings, rallies, bundh, gherao and many other display of resistance could fetch them nothing but a total fiasco.

The party has failed to understand the people of India. They have also failed to evaluate their own performance. The communists got the state of West Bengal under their rule for over three decades and for 23 years one person was the Chief Minister. With all their neo socioeconomic theories what could they do for this state over other states. West Bengal is in the lower ranks in literacy, per capita income, health, infrastructure, agricultural etc. What could communism contribute more than other socialist parties? What is something special people can find in communist party?

Similarly,  Cuba was under the regime of a strong communist for over four decades. Could he bring this country in par with other developed nations? The statistics of the pre 1991 Soviet Union and the present one well explain the impact of the communist rule for about 69 years. One can also make a comparison with the departed countries too.

China too could make a quantum leap in its economic rating after deviating to capitalist system. China is no more a communist country. There are 594 billionaires in China against 535 in USA. The second top billionaire has a growth of 41% wealth over the year before. For the purpose of rigid administration China is acting as a communist country and on the other hand for a liberal economy they are a capitalist county.

Communist Manifesto was originally published on 21 Feb 1848 by Karl Marx and Friedrich  Engels.  About 170 years after coming into existence the communist have only five countries under their belt today. The theoreticians of the party may have enough reasons to defend for their failure but no theory can bend the truth.

However, these are not the reasons for their failure to take roots in the ideally fertile land prevailed in India in 1925. There are only two factors that prevented their growth. Indians are generally peace loving people. They cannot support blood, war and any forms of violence. The party is always highlighting these names for their revolution. The other factor that kept the people away from the communists is their enmity towards God. The great majority of Indians have a strong tie up with God in one name or the other. No one can be forcefully seperated from this unseen power. Despite all said and done the communist party can still capture power in India if they denounce violence and preach non-violence. They must leave God in His way. They should not mix religious thoughts with party ideology. Hence if they can denounce atheism and support the existence of God in some manner they can easily get into the large majority of Indian hearts. There are two ways to resettle in India. Either they must scrap those theories that are irrelevant to Indian conditions from their Manifesto or make a new Communist Manifesto that suit to the people of India. They must first decide what is important for them; the books of theories in their hands or the people of India. If they give more preference to India and the Indian people, the party must get itself adapted to the present Indian conditions. They have no other way to have a majority in the Indian parliament. Wish to see them rule this country in the very near future!
