SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT STOP GAMBLING IN INDIA?

Image
Should the government stop gambling in India? The answer must be a straight 'yes'. Gambling in India is governed by the Gambling Act of 1867. Some states like Goa, Daman and Diu, Sikkim etc exempted from the Gambling Act. However online gambling is not covered by the above act. Whether it is online or offline,  gambling is gambling and the impact is negative and destructive. There are news reports about children committing suicides after losing money in online gambling. There are many families gone to shambles after the heavy loss of money. Despite all these happening in our society our elected representatives do not take it to the parliament and ensure framing stringent law to ward off all sorts of gambling including the online gambling from our country. The people trust them that they will do as deemed fit as early as possible. K V George

CM's VISIT ON EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Image
While the Chief Minister of Kerala is visiting Finland and some other European countries with the intention of development of education in the state is appreciable, how much could be adopted from there is to be that matters. The prime factor in education in Finland is that no University of that country is asking for tution fees upto post graduation level. If that could be implemented in this state a good number of students will be benefitted. More important than anything else, if three assurances can be given by the government, it would be a blessing more worthier than any other development in education. Attention of state and central government is kindly drawn to the following for implementation on top most priority. 1. Eradicate narcotics from all educational institutions. 2. Remove all political activities from all educational institutions. Stoppage of classes should not be allowed under any circumstances. 3. Following subjects may be included in the school syllabus from...

Rice yield generally varies from country to country. While average rice yield in China is 2630 kg per acre, it is 3050 kg in India and in Missouri (USA) it is 3460 kg in 2021.(Data compiled from different sources) These variations in output  could be due to different reasons like geography, climate, quality of seeds etc. However, the technology applied could also be a significant cause. As of 2021 we have 3 Central Agricultural Universities, 4 Deemed Universities and 63 State Agricultural Universities in India. About 4 lakhs students are studying for various courses in agriculture in India now. The rates of employment of students pass out from agricultural colleges every year is not known. LIQUOR AND NARCOTICS

Image
It could be found for quite sometime that some religious as well as social organisations do some show of protest in front of beverage shops and bars. However, scantily found anywhere such organisations do any such protests against narcotics. It could be because there are no sales outlets for narcotics. Narcotics must be more dangerous than alcoholic drinks. Such organisations may conduct wider activities.  They may organise meetings in schools and colleges as well as at public places. They may also gather as much information possible on the distribution network of narcotics and pass on to the concerned authorities from time to time. They may also add more organisations and individuals for these activities across the state. Let us all put as much effort as possible to make this state narcotics free. K V George

FAMILY PROPERTY

Image
(Image courtesy - The Hindustan Times) Let  us imagine that our father has large extent of highly fertiled land. We are many brothers and sisters.  He arranged good education for some of us. Some get basic school education. Well educated brothers and sisters go to other houses and work there. The little educated roam around and do something here and there. Many of us get fed with what little available. Our father do not allow us to work in our own land and earn enough for our food. We are all sure that we can make enough food here. Part of it could be sold out too, but we are not allowed to do so. Is this does not happen in India for decades after decades? Why we are not allowed to work here and earn? Why our large resources are left untapped? Dear father, if we children are provided opportunities to work here we can make huge wealth here? Father need not pick from our pockets as and when likes? He can take about one third of our income as a right. Father, yo...

WELCOME MOVE AGAINST NARCOTICS

Image
Of late a welcome move could be noticed from different centres against narcotics. The prominent newspaper Malayala Manorama has assured strong participation with the state government in eradicating narcotics from the state. Other media too have come up in support of the move. Recently Syro Malabar Church, Pala has organised a large meeting consisting of eminent personalities to reach the people to ward off this dangerous evil from the society.  Since this destructive element has gone deep into the society, relentless efforts from all corners are required to rout this menace from the society. We must systematically organise our plans. When we are thinking about a total eradication we must think about the coming generations too. Therefore, we may include this in the school syllabus from class 4 to 12. Similarly this could be included in the syllabus of Catechism classes of Christian Churches. Government may encourage production of more cinemas, serials and stories in the ...
