This indicates that about 500 million people have climbed out of poverty during this period. Ownership by the state and centrally planned economy had earlier brought them to this utmost poverty status. Privatisation began to accelerate after 1992 and the private grew as percentage of the GDP. In fact it was not a sudden turn around but a post Mao transition from 1976. Now China has reached at the No 2 position in GDP after US. GDP per capita income is reached USD 13,806 by the end of 2025. At present China is known to be ranking 99 in the list of world countries in GDP per capita income as of 2025 by IMF. Most essential items to produce any goods are just two. One is sufficient earth and the other is human labour. We Indians have these two in surplus. But, we are far behind to many countries in producing goods and selling them to other countries. Neither our people nor our governments are focusing on these two to make ourselves wealthy and self sufficient. China is in the forefront and in combining these two elements properly and serve the world and serve themselves. We prefer to weep on our poverty. The government is extending subsidies to reduce the poverty than using our surplus resources to eradicate poverty. I would like to call upon my fellow countrymen to form groups one after the other to produce goods and services and sell those in the international market. If we can produce high quality goods in a fast pace and offer at a low price, there may be enough takers and that will remove our poverty. We can also stand among the rich in the world. K V George 

According to the Periodic Labour Force Survey the unemployment rate in India has a declining trend: 2020-21= 4.2%, 2021-22 = 4.1%, 2022-23 = 3.2%. The percentage of unemployment shown above may appear to be not very high in comparison with other countries. While looking at our large population these cannot be small in numbers. Over and above these when we add the figures of under employed, those unaccounted found in large numbers in the agricultural sector, the youth passing out every year etc into consideration the actual figures may be much higher. Our  political leaders when have a large gathering to listen, say, economic development of India is something easily achievable one. We may overtake China in another few years! We will be among the advanced countries of the world! And very soon by political parties' loud speakers we may listen that we are going to be the richest in the world! Speakers continue with their tall speeches and the listeners continue to clap their hand. Our one-way traffic media reports make these great speeches reach as much people as possible. But what is hidden from probably most of the people are: 1) considerable amount of about 1.5 billion population still live below poverty line or close to the line above, 2) a large amount of our population are between illiterates and below matriculation, 3) ours is one of the most unsafe country for women in the world, 4) countless number of people are begging in streets across the country, 5) unknown number of children are unable to attend the school...

There  are many instances of allegations of corruption against government officials, ministers, political functionaries etc in Kerala through news media time and again. In response to this the people as a whole do not react considering that their hard earned money is being swindled by antisocial elements. 'Don't mind, let them have it', seems to be the general attitude of the people.
