WHY PEOPLE OF KERALA TAKE A 'DON'T CARE' ATTITUDE TOWARDS CORRUPTION?

There are many instances of allegations of corruption against government officials, ministers, political functionaries etc in Kerala through news media time and again. In response to this the people as a whole do not react considering that their hard earned money is being swindled by antisocial elements. 'Don't mind, let them have it', seems to be the general attitude of the people. The general earnings of the state through government for 2023-24 is:
Public debt - 36.9% of GSDP
Budget balance -(-Rs 39,662 Cr)
Revenue - Rs 1.36 lakhs Crs
Expense - Rs 2.76 lakhs Crs

Then comes agriculture. Nearly half of the population is engaged in some sort of agricultural activities. Marine products trading and exports is another significant field of earing. About 65% of the income of the state comes from different sectors like IT, real estate, tourism, insurance, banking, transportation etc

Over and above these about 1.5 lakhs crores rupees are brought in to the state every year by our people working abroad. And this is the money that makes the Malayalees lead a lavish life. This is the money that force the people take a don't care attitude towards corruption. However the way things are getting changed, this huge inflow of money is likely to be getting lesser in the coming years.

As per the available information about 80% of our people are not returning to Kerala after higher studies from Australia, UK, Canada etc in the recent years. Some of them are taking their parents also to these countries after disposing of their land and buildings. This will sharply bring down the remittance. In course of times it will have a terrific impact on the per capita income.

Of course, at such a situation common man shall be constrained to plug all leaks, however small it may be. When such time comes, the people will be more focused on preventing corruption and all other financial mismanagement.
