WASTE MANAGEMENT IN INDIA

Image
A Chinese Power House using combustible waste. With  66.1% recycling, Germany is the best recycling country in the world. Austria is close by with Germany in waste management. These two countries are followed by Taiwan, Sweden and South Korea in the list of best waste managers in the world. In 2003 Kamikatsu municipality of Japan made history by producing zero waste. While these are the names of the toppers, annoyingly, our country is among bottom 12 of the list in best waste managers in the world. The amount of municipal solid waste generated in India in 2021 was 1,60,000 metric tons. Considerable amount these waste are combustible and can be used for electricity generation. For instance, China is producing 2.7 million tonnes of waste per year. They generate 2.7 billion kilowatt hours.of electricity every year. Waste from paper, plastic, glass, wood, metal, electronics, battery, cloth and such many items are recycled and brought into new products.  If we Indians u...

CAN AN AGREEMENT BE VALID FOR 999 YEARS AS PER INDIAN LAW? CAN A CONCRETE DAM LIVE UPTO 999 YEARS?

Image
A lease indenture signed between the Maharaja of Travencore and the secretary of state for India in 1886 with a validity for 999 years, is what caused the  current tussle between Kerala and Tamil Nadu for irrigation  water from Mullaperiyar dam. 999 years is something over 30 human generations. Under any law anywhere in the world, can anyone ask anyone after ten, twenty or thirty generations what to give to whom and from where and how much? Did the signatories know that no such concrete dam in the world will survive for such long time of 999 years. From what is seen in this world a concrete dam cannot survive over 100 plus years. More amuzing and confusing is that why no one has brought this to the notice of the honorable judiciary. More than these the geographical and population combination have distinctively changed since the signing of this 'comedy of errors'. K V George

OUR BURDENS ARE BOUGHT BY US

We  Indians are like a large family with plenty of land with enough water and favorable climatic conditions. But, instead of working in the field, produce and sell in the market we run behind the elder ones, listening their economic theories, political history and the divine discourse. We are so humble, liberal and such open minded that we build houses for god's even though we don't have houses. We feed the gods and pujaris though we have nothing to eat. We have no hesitation to follow the economic theories which are found flopped the world over where these were experimented. We have also made trial runs in a few states and found total collapse. We prefer to stop things than running them continuously. Instead of keeping the shutters open for more time we do our best to close those as much as possible. We are taught to shut than open. We prefer to see empty roads than the hustled and active ones. We are taught to remain idle and talk more than to keep working and tal...

MIRACULOUS HEALING OF CANCER

Image
Emily Grace was three years old. One night she had severe trouble for breathing. The mother of the little girl took her to the ER doctor suspecting pneumonia. The doctor found something abnormal and she was kept in the emergency room. Soon it was found that the girl at high risk stage four of cancer. She was in the hospital for 78 days. She had a chest tube for long and kept getting infections. The condition of the little patient was worsened every day. The mother by her side continued to pray. The mother's friend visited them. Having seen the condition of her daughter, the friend advised her to pray. Only God can help her, she was told. She prayed. Prayed and prayed. Prayed for long from her heart.  Now you may listen to the mother: "My daughter is now a thriving 11 years old. I call her my "miracle kid", because that is what she is. This is something about prayer. If you pray wholly surrendered and with total faith your prayer will certainly be answered...

CAN KERALA AFFORD STOP TRAFFIC AND CLOSE SHOPS?

Image
It is high time that the government of Kerala to take a firm decision whether they want to find means to raise the revenue or to continue with availing loans trom all sources. If they are intending for more revenue the first available source to consider is tourism. All avenues are now open to raise the income from tourism by over five times of the record earnings of the state. In order to achieve this we need not spend huge sum but should maintain certain basic discipline within our state. No tourist will come here at the risk of their lives. We cannot expect them to stay on public roads. We cannot force them to remain hungry. Irrespective of political considerations, any government ruling the state should ensure, therefore, that: a) Under no circumstances traffic on roads should be suspended. b) Throwing stones or causing any damages to vehicles may be strictly prohibited. c) No shops or offices should  forcefully be closed.  All offenders may be ensured to be pun...

BRIBERY - STOP TALKING ABOUT; TRY TO ACT FAST

Image
India has become notorious for the corruption activities in our government offices. There are middle men in corruption transactions. They use to say, if money is available, nothing is impossible in our government offices. Bribe  deals are so widespread in our government offices. No result oriented preventive steps are being taken by the people or by the government. It's really a pathetic situation. We cannot afford to continue like this. We must do something on red hot priority. Can we enact the following? 1. Stringent punishment should be ensured. If a government employee is found accepting bribe, such one should be dismissed from service forth with irrespective of the amount received. Further to this year 10 times of the amount involved should be taken from the culprit as fine. The culprits should also put behind bars for a minimum period of ten years. 2. The subject 'bribery' should be treated as a social vice and included in the school syllabus from Class 4 ...
