SURPRISING RESULT OF PRE-POLL SURVEY

A Malayalam channel is found to have conducting pre-poll survey in the Lok Sabha constituencies of Kerala towards the ensuing parliament election. As per the report published by them in many of the constituencies the projected vote difference between UDF and LDF is about 1% to 2% less for LDF. It shows that nearly about equal amount of voters are in both sides. On the other hand if the LDF can put little more efforts they can win the election. The allegations of corruption made by the media en masse have not reached the target. One may even try to find the following abnormalities in the people. They can be called ignorant. They either do not believe the allegations or they do not find fault in those. Another thing could be that Communism is strongly established in Kerala. It may also be a truth that the considerable number of people of Kerala love their Chief Minister and his family. Most important aspect could be that the opposition party have failed to reach the people.

Late Cho Ramaswamy once said that corruption is accepted by our society; may be as a new socioeconomic system. Corruption is rampant in our country. Though many of the corrupt activities are taken place in public, people do not register necessary complaints about it. The prime theory of corruption is that so long as the benefits are shared amongst all concerned the chances of complaints are too less. The most surprising thing is that still we call this system a democratic one.

When we go through the history of democracy in the world, right from Cleisthenese father of Athenian democracy (508-507 BC), Abraham Lincoln of the modern world and Jawahar Lal Nehru of India may be called as the sponsors of democracy. However in the long run many countries in the world have moved away from democratic norms in course of time. We Indians are very well experiencing this for quite some time. In fact to the best of my opinion democracy is a nearly impossible system of governance.
